Response: Oh yes, in 1981 the USPS came out with tiny American wildlife 18-cent stamps in a folder for $3.60. I've been saving that moose stamp, and now you've got it! There were 10 different, all-brown animals in the folder with two of each design. Check amazon.com: a dealer has three of these unused booklets for sale. We liked moose tracks ice cream so much that we bought a second carton. Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: What kind words -- they serve as a pre-Valentine's Day bonus. Thanks for rating and the heart. How I love those S-B hearts!
Response: Thanks for the marvelous rating. Yes, I LOVE living in Chicago. So much going on all the time.
Response: Kismet, indeed. I am not on Facebook So, do you ever go to the bakery at Mars Cheese Castle? Did the Entrapment movie postcard give you a thrill? Were you able to get any bead earring ideas from the GoCard? Curious in Chicago
Response: Please let me know how the recipe turns out. They sure look festive! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Butte is a fascinating town. We spent two nights there and wandered all over. Among other things, we were hot on the trail of places that Wim Wenders featured in his 2005 film "Don't Come Knocking." I recommend it for something scenically related to this Montana city. Thanks for the rating and the heart. Have a blast at Disneyland for Thanksgiving!
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: I had fun picking out and fixing up this postcard for you. Don't get much call for my box of pointing-hands rubber stamps. Thanks for the prompt rating and heart.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart. Here's some more gorgeous images of this Michigan waterfall @ www.exploringthenorth.com/tahqua/tahqua.html
Response: Yes, that's a cool rabbit card from Japan. And I'm delighted that the surfer card went to a surfer. Happy Easter.
Response: HA! Sixteen rubber stamps . . . I never counted while creating both sides of the card. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Thanks Gloria! Was just now fixing up the letter "R" for you.
Response: Good! Now you have the completely different resent card to anticipate.
Response: Caramel corn is a great treat. Here in Chicago, the tradition is to mix caramel corn with cheese corn. It's SO delicious. Garrett makes our favorite. And in Springfield, Illinois, near the old state capitol, there's a candy-and-popcorn shop that makes all sorts of different flavors. What's most memorable, though, is their collection of popcorn ephemera. Thanks for the rating, the heart and corresponding with me on those Stewart recipe pcs.
Response: Swap-botters love my Jell-o stamp. It's been in my collection for years and came from Rainbow Rubberworks in Potsdam, New York. Thanks for the rating and the heart. BTW, are you familiar with the Jello Mold Mistress of Brooklyn? She's right up you alley. Check her out at http://victoriabelanger.wordpress.com/
Response: Great! The parcel only took one week to arrive. Did the elegant pineapple placemats uncurl and flatten out? That was a fun swap. Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Hello Nancy: How are you doing? I have been concerned about your broken pelvis. And you not having access to your rubber stamps doubles the pain! Hope you are feeling better and that your stamping supplies are more accessible. What a relief for me that the Jell-o postcard arrived okay (I was kinda worried about that). Both of those stamps have been in my collection for years. The box of strawberry Jell-o came from Rainbow Rubberworks in Potsdam, NY and the fancy jar was made by All Night Media. Oh by the way, according to Wikipedia: "There's always room for Jell-o" originated in 1964. I'd always thought their slogan was older. Thanks for the rating and the heart. Happy Valentine's Day!!! Jennifer in Chicago
Response: Glad that it tickled your fancy. Thanks for the rating and the heart. Happy Valentine's Day!
Response: Oh goodie, I am so glad that the North Carolina postcard was right on target. Can you use the watermelon stickers? Thanks for the rating and the heart. Happy Valentine's Day!
Response: Well, Dee, I am glad that the postcards tickled your fancy. Actually, I was directed by your profile. Under the heading Little Miss Active, after discussing karate, you have "I love to play sports. I'm usually game for most kinds and fairly active. I play soccer, basketball, frisbee and volleyball." So that's what gave me the idea for the soccer and frisbee cards. Thanks for the rating and the heart. Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Response: WOW!!! An entire month in the hospital. You must have been going stir-crazy. I've always said the hospital is not a spa so not the place to get a restful night's sleep. Welcome back! Thanks for the rating the the heart.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart. The rubber stamp of that dapper heart-shaped gent in the top hat and holding a cane was made by All Night Media. It's been with me for more than 20 years. I'm so glad it still makes a fine impression.
Response: My goodness, I was worried that those "K" cards got lost. I mailed them last Thursday at the reception desk of the Miami Airport Holiday Inn. We went on a 3-day wedding cruise to the Bahamas. To meet the deadline, I had to get this mailing completed before we left. There you are in Florida, and it took a week for them to arrive. Weird. But even weirder, it was 33 degrees when we docked in Miami on Monday morning. P.S. They are very accommodating at the Arabia gift shop. I bet if you phoned them, you could purchase one (or more) of their smashed pennies for your collection and for trading.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart. Good luck getting caught up. Happy 2010
Response: I'm so relieved that you're enjoying the cards (and post-its) because perhaps the quantity and variety could become overwhelming. Thanks for the rating and the heart. P.S. Just learned there's a Michael's in Chicago so we are going to check it out on Friday.
Response: Glad you asked. The director and the word balloon rubber stamps are marked RubberNation.com but that website offers nothing like this now. I bought them years ago at a shop, but I sure can't remember where. Maybe they will show up sometime on ebay. Appreciate the rating and the heart.
Response: Thanks for tracking down the pretty lighthouse postcard I sent you. Appreciate the rating and the heart. Happy Holidays!
Response: I appreciate the rating + the heart. Had no idea she's on the web until you mentioned being a fan. I only knew of Sally Cruikshank from that Halloween pc purchased decades ago. Found this seasonal video that hits the spot: www.youtube.com/user/laughingsal#p/a/u/1/SJViKv5HTIE
Response: My rubber stamps and I thank you for the rating and the heart. Happy Thanksgiving from my home to yours.
Response: Third time is the charm. Thanks for the comments and the heart.
Response: I am delighted to have nailed what you dig with the Turning Leaf card: reds, leaves and trees. Groovy!
Response: Very pleased that you enjoyed this card. It has been such a pretty autumn in Chicago! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: This year I'm really giving my pumpkin and JOL rubber stamps a workout! Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: On this swap, your wish for spiders was my command. I was tickled that the postcard featured a spider picture and by name in the French album title. Thanks for the rating and the heart.
Response: Real glad that Glen Campbell hit the spot. Thanks for the heart!
Response: Thanks for the prompt response. I appreciate the heart. Happy Halloween!
Response: Found a bunch of them in my Dr. Seuss collection, so it seemed perfect for this assignment. Thanks for the heart.
Response: Hmmmmm, methinks over-board might be considered a "B" word, too. Thanks for the heart!
Response: I'm so relieved that the postcard arrived and in only one day. COOL!!! It makes me happy that you loved this Harry Potter card. Thanks for the heart.
Response: That's titled Driving Woodstock. It comes from Stampabilities. Their website: www.craftsetc.com sells 11 Snoopy rubber stamps but not mine. The red convertible looks cute as does the season's greetings.
Response: Yes, Avantcards is an Australian company. Very glad to learn they are still around as they are one of my favorite freecard publishers. I have collected Avantcards from the beginning but lost my trading partners a few years back. Thanks for the heart!
Response: Thanks for the heart. We stayed at the hotel only. A nice stop before Chicago.
Response: My goodness, just like in olden times, you got my packet the next day!! I toted that highly patriotic envelope over to the post office on Devon, near Clark, and dropped it in the inside slot just before 5pm yesterday afternoon. I am delighted by the USPS prompt delivery. Thanks for the heart.
Response: Very good. It's so refreshing to meet someone who appreciates ad cards. I spent about a decade (1995-2005) seeking them out in Chicago and trading them with others worldwide until the bottom fell out of the fad in the USA. Thanks for the heart.
Response: Thanks for the heart. By all means try a bed 'n breakfast sometime. They can be quite a treat. The hosts, the decor, the sleeping arrangements, the grounds and the food can all be quite an experience.
Response: Thanks for the heart. It's cool that you have personal experience with some of the places we visited on vacation. I was so surprised by Harpers Ferry. What a confluence of history (John Brown, Civil War, Meriwether Lewis) and nature (Appalachian Trail). Here's hoping number 6 has arrived by now.
Response: As a free-lance writer (obviously not about sports), I am intrigued by your job title. Thanks for the heart.
Response: Jo: Thanks for the heart. On this swap I just figured, why not send a bunch of pcs. In my view, only one (as assigned) did not suffice. Yes, I got a little carried away but it's not the first time and what fun cards, eh?!? I have "generous trader" in my profile and that's what I aim at. We stopped at two Dillinger places in Indiana. If you get to Hammond, their exhibit in the visitors center is very interesting. We loved the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument in Indianapolis and found it much more impressive than the one in Cleveland. Tried to eat at King David dogs but they closed too early.
Response: Thanks for the nice words and the heart. I get such a kick from s'n's stickers. Even 20 years old, some of them still hold their scent.
Response: Thanks for the heart. As a fan, I thought you'd get a kick out of this site re: How Long Does Bill Murray Spend in Groundhog Day? www.wolfgnards.com/index.php/2009/06/16/how-long-does-billy-murray-spend-in-grou
Response: Oh, you didn't have to do anything. I just find that being extra-generous with postcard swaps enhances my enjoyment. See you in the mail.
Response: So glad that my decorated envelope was a treat to open. Have fun with all these goodies. Thanks for the heart.
Response: Thanks for taking a break from you kitchen remodeling to rate my parcel. Your heart is appreciated.
Response: Thanks for noticing!!! Appreciate the heart.
Response: Welcome 2 Swap-bot. Real glad to supply you with a fun welcome.
Response: Postcard Fairy, I love it!
Your comments gave me much happiness. So many swaps forbid ad cards. I spent years gathering and trading them, so they are very important to me. Sure hope I get your name again!
Response: Hey, thanks for the alternate definition. That's a new one to me. You lost me on the apple pie question. Please explain. And it's the writing cat with glasses rs that you just bought, right?
Response: Thanks for the heart. It's really rare to earn one when only a single postcard is involved.
Response: Glad you enjoyed the pc loot. I'm happy to share. The SPAM rs comes from Viva Las Vegas Stamps. I bought it somewhere years ago and was mighty surprised to find this company still in business. I see online that they also sell several other SPAM-themed stamps.
Response: Yes, siree, it is A-OK to get carried away when sharing postcards with appreciative Swap-botters. Thanks so much for the heart and kind words.
Response: WOW! Mailed on Tuesday and received on Saturday. There must be a special direct link for mail between Chicago and The Netherlands. So glad you enjoyed what I sent.
Response: I am so flattered that you'll be making my Spuds McApple for a barbeque. Please let me know what you think of the taste and texture. I'm eager to make it again, too.
Response: That's great. I'm eager to make it again myself. We have company coming in a couple of weeks and that's on the menu for a kitchen session.
Response: Thanks for the rating and the heart. I'm glad you enjoyed the mailing. Entertainment Weekly magazine reviewed the Twitter site but did not rate the recipes very high. You can check it out at www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20277408,00.html
Response: I'm glad you enjoyed what I sent because I really worried about this swap. I have loads of old postage and postcards accumulated from decades of collecting so I don't anticipate ever depleting my inventory. I found the Twitter article is interesting and ran across a review of that website in Entertainment Weekly magazine. The reviewer did not give high marks to the recipes, so beware. You can read the review at www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20277408,00.html
P.S. A ramekin is an individual sized baking dish.
