Hi! I’m a mixed-media and lettering artist based in Atlanta. I used to be a professional calligrapher, and letterforms often still appear in my mixed-media work. I’m mostly active in the Mixed-Media Artists group here on Swap-bot. Periodically I'll go on swap benders though!
I love making books and art journals, and have several types that I’m working on. If interested you can check these out on my Insta (link above). Lately I've been interested in bookbinding, and have been getting interested in collaborative zines and passing around little journals for art buddies to work in...
The gelli plate is a favorite...I seem to have amassed infinite bottles/tubes of paint as a result, and countless stencils and printing accoutrements. Help!
I also have a vast rubber stamp collection and tend to forget what I own. :/ Love all things stamped, especially mail art!
I have a Vagabond die-cutting machine (had a swap partner interested to know this, because she likes to send "extra" dies to her partners! Wow--so generous!).
Periodically I get into Zentangle. You can see lots of photos of my tangling on my Insta or on the Zentangle app.
Some labels for things I tend to like, art stylewise:
Lynne Perrella
Vintage/historical (not twee, more elegant/quirky)
Tim Holtz style
Michelle Ward
On Swap-bot, I primarily make journally stuff and ATCs, especially with mixed media, stamping, collage, and hand-drawn or -lettered elements. I love doing jams with fellow artists on here and being stretched artistically in different directions as a result!
I love the layers and patterns of mixed-media work—there can be so much to look at, even on a little ATC.
History and historical themes are really appealing to me. So is vintage lettering/calligraphy.
The quirky and the weird are more intriguing to me than the straight-up pretty..., especially pieces that seem to say something or have a hidden meaning.
I'm not really huge on cute/adorable things or cartoons. Nothing religious, thanks (though I do like historical references to religion, e.g. Renaissance paintings, church architecture). I don't tend to go for really saccharine-sweet vintage stuff.
I fear clowns (AAAAAAaaahhhh!) and dislike circus themes as a result. :( Apologies if you’re a Big Top fan!
Don't need any planner stuff since I use a digital planner. Thanks, though!
