About Me

Note: If you do NOT receive anything from me, please let me know because I ALWAYS send my swaps and there can be some misunderstanding at a post office or something like that.

I am Eliška, 27 years old. I studied American literature (my specialization was the period of the 1950's and 1960's) and I work as a translator and interpreter and I simply enjoy whatever I do. I also have some English and Czech for foreigners lessons. I have many hobbies - reading, music, film, going out, swimming, sleeping and many many others. To make my life happy, I have a dog whose name is Kvenda (I took him from the dog shelter) and he is a mixture of a labrador retriever and a dachshund - he is very cute and clever! I LOVE French Little Nicolas by Goscinny and Sempé. And yes, I'm totally addicted to Postcrossing (nickname Bettynka)!7

Comment: Thanks for sharing :) Glad that your country kept the original title for the first Stieg Larsson book, in the UK they call it "The girl with the dragon tattoo", more politically correct I suppose ;D
Response: Thank you for the heart! I'm happy we kept the original name as well - I was confused in the bookstore when I saw The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo in the English section because I thought it was a new book. I saw the Swedish movie two weeks ago and I really liked it, too :-) I also forgot to write that I absolutely love Astrid Lindgren :-)

I like Kolja, too although it is very sad, I think and I cannot watch it anymore... Obchod na korze is a Czechoslovak movie because at that time it was made in Czechoslovakia and we cannot say it was purely Czech or Slovak as we were one country...

PostMuse on Aug 10, 2008:

Two of my favorite movies are Czech... well one is for sure Czech, I think the other is Slovak. Kolya stole my heart and the lead actor sort of reminds me of Sean Connery, but earthier and more fun, and the other one is Obchod na korze (Shop on Main Street). Beautiful, funny and sad.
