"My name is Emika and I like to make stuff."
A good line, and true, but I guess not enough.
A well-filled out profile is much in demand,
but of long-winded profiles I'm not really a fan.
I loathe writing about me, I think it's no fun,
but maybe in verse I can get the job done.
First a word on my crafts, I do quite a few;
some are quite old, and others quite new.
I've been crafting for ages (it's all my mom's fault:
she got me hooked when I was just a wee tot.)
She's a quilter, an artist; she's ahead of the game,
and in addition to skilled, she's a real classy dame.
I started off making some postcards to trade
(and my interest in making them has yet to fade)
but I moved on to something a little bit smaller:
I love ATCs!!! In all themes and all colors,
from paper, from fabric, from metal, from wood
I love making them all. And receiving them? Good!
Cloth ATCs are what I love making best
(and you can see from my ratings that they tend to impress). :D
In addition to that, I do other crafts, too,
Many of to which I'm relatively new.
Thanks to this website I've found new hobbies,
like dotees and decos, FBs and LBs.
My new favorite craft, my obsession de jure:
is Zentangle drawing - I just love their allure.
And the brand-newest craft on which I am keen
is making and swapping and playing with zines.
(If you're curious to see some things that I've made,
check the links at the top - blog and pics page.)
My likes, oh my likes, they are many and vast,
and sure by the end, you'll be sorry you asked!
For sewing and quilting I love fabrics galore,
solids and prints and bright colors and more.
For ATC-making I love cloth of all kinds,
So if you send me some scraps, I surely won't mind!
Civil War repros, tie-dyed or batiks,
fabric scraps of all kinds are the thing that I seek!
Of anything textured I'm a huge natural fan;
I'm a tactile person and I see with my hands.
If you want to shower me with baubles and beads,
send whatever you like! Really, feel free!!
You'd sure win my heart with embroidery floss,
or needles, or patterns, or all, if you must.
Of ribbons and yarn, I have a good store,
But, oh, what the heck, I can always use more.
I work as a teacher, so all teaching supplies
are the perfect small extra in my greedy eyes.
Teaching materials - lesson plans and that fare -
I am always quite happy to provide or share.
As you might see by now, I'm a lover of words
(mostly the ones which are weird or absurd).
English teacher I am, yes, you guessed right,
So English materials cause me to excite.
In addition to English, I love tongues of the world
I love Latin and German and Swahili and Perl :D
So if you have any pages with text which is foreign,
send them my way, and I'll be you adorin'.
It's not only languages which my obsession embraces,
I also adore things from all kinds of places.
Things which are coming from other countries:
Newspapers or photos, postcards or CDs,
Cultural knowledge, be it random or small,
be it important or trivial, I collect it all.
I'm also quite int'rested in religions diverse,
so to saints or icons, I would not be adverse.
Oh, favorite color... how should I pick you?
All colors are equal (we learned that in grade two)!
But it seems a requirement, a must, a have-to
And, under duress, I guess I'd have to pick blue.
And returning once more to the idea of tongues,
I'm now learning Chinese, and it's really so fun.
A language so intr'sting, I really adore it;
so send me anything in Chinese, and I'll sure love you for it!
As for my dislikes, well, what can I say?
Any mail that arrives here will sure make my day.
So I won't be too picky, I honestly won't,
But there's one or two things which really are "don't"s:
Please don't send me nuts, I'm allergic to some.
I don't need any kawaii; I think that it's dumb.
I don't really like stickers, I mean sticker sheets
(but stickers, when used well, can be really neat).
Profanity gets me; I just find it crass.
An intelligent person can find words with more class.
Well, I hope now you've learned a lil bit about me
Though what that bit was, I guess we'll just see.
Maybe you learned that I can't write worth a damn,
or maybe you've learned that I'm simply a ham.
I better stop now, before things get any worse;
I'm sure you've laughed yourself silly at my nonsensical verse :)
If you send me mail to the address which swap-bot provides, it will arrive with no problem.
However, if you want to make me (and my postman) very happy, you can address my mail with the proper Hungarian format:
E... H... (my name)
Sz... (city)
K... t... #/# #/# (street address)

Best. Profile. Ever. :)
I can't believe, I finally found someone from Hungary! This is so awesome, I'm looking for someone from Hungary for so longΓ’β¬Β¦ ok, here is the deal - I am volunteering in a local nursing home. So the thing is that one of the elderly is from Hungary, and her 80's birthday is gonna come up soon, so I would love to show her postcards from where she was born at. I think it will make her very happy when I'll show her pictures from her home country :)
That will so rock if you will agree to that! TwiggyFairy
