Description:

This is a USA only swap, flat mail. This swap has 2 parts!

For this swap, you will have just 1 partner to send to, but you will also need to send a text to sign a petition to save the USPS, or you can follow links to sign the petition with your email address.

You've probably heard that the USPS is in trouble and needs help. We can help by buying stamps from the USPS (not stamps.com - the USPS makes no money from those), but you can also write letters or make calls to your representatives, and you can sign petitions.

Part One - this is on the honor system, and you don't need to join the swap in order to participate in this portion of the swap. Either send a text USPS to 50409

---OR ---- Visit Change.org ---OR ---- Visit Common Cause ---OR--- Visit APWU ---OR--- Visit Resistbot To sign a petition asking for support for the USPS funding. These sites will also have other information about the needs for support, and the APWU has additional information of ways you can help.

THEN!
Once the sign up date has passed, I will assign partners for the swap. You will send your partner ONE postcard - sender's choice, but it's nice to look at your partner's profile first - stamped and sent naked (no envelope). Write the swap name, your swap bot ID on the card as well as a message for your partner AND the postal workers who will handle the card in processing. Please use a USPS postage stamp on the card! Every stamp we buy helps them out. (Stamps.com does not count) Postage for a postcard in the US is currently 35 cents.

Handmade cards are allowed, and if you'd like to get crafty and create a nice, flat card Thanking the USPS, I'm sure they'd enjoy that, too. :)

Part 1 of this swap is on the honor system - We'll have to trust that you sent the text or signed the petition.

Part 2 of the swap, you are sending to your partner. If you get a postcard with the swap name, your partner's ID and a message, please consider rating a 5, especially if it's sent on time. Please don't automatically rate down if the postmark is later than the send by date. The postal workers are dealing with lots of mail, and I know my mail isn't moving as fast.

Who can join?

Current swappers with a 4.98 or higher rating and no late send on their dashboard are welcome to join. If you owe any 1-ratings to current members, take care of that and skip this swap.

USA only

New members with a VERY WELL FILLED OUT profile, at least 5 type-2 or 3 completed, rated swaps and no late sends are welcome. If your profile is full of pictures and not info about you, it's not well filled out. If you wrote a paragraph, your profile is not well filled out.

If you know of a swapper signed up for this swap who is a questionable swapper, I appreciate you sharing this information with me, but I ask that you send me the information in a PM rather than listing in the comments below.

I know there are other swaps currently listed for saving the USPS. I don't think I am copying anyone's idea, but if I have, please just send me a PM and let me know. I'm not trying to copy others ideas or pass them off as my own. IT just really leave me feeling sad to think of the USPS going away, and I've already made all the phone calls, sent all the letters and signed all the petitions, so this is my next step!

For those interested, on Instagram there is a hashtag #savetheusps if you upload photos of your outgoing mail, or just wish to see how others are supporting the USPS.

Please, if you have ANY questions or comments, send me a PM. I never think of or remember to check comments below, so I will likely miss your messages until it's too late to reply. Thanks!

Great swap! For expats like me who can't join, but want to help, you can message Resistbot on Facebook Messenger, iMessage, Twitter, or Telegram and it will take you through the same automated process as texting 50409 and generate a letter to your representatives for you!

This is such a great swap! And as a mail carrier myself, I thank you.

Although I have to say, not very many carriers will look at the PC, we often do not have time for that! Because I am also an artist, I do. Maybe there is more of us out there.

@SunTradeToo - our old postal carrier in MA sure read my postcards! haha - she always left post it notes on cards she really liked or envelope art that she liked. I eventually got her into swap-bot, but I'm not sure if she's active on the site. It was always fun to get a note on the mail. :) Maybe that's why it was delivered so late in the day there, though! haha I never minded, though. I figure a postcard is meant to be read by all, so no deep dark secrets. I do have to wonder what the mail carriers think of all the Post Secrets that are delivered to Frank Warren! :)

@LiliLuv - yes, that is what I liked about those sites, the option to sign online as well as on the phone. I personally don't like to text to things often and get lots of spam stuff, so having an online option is nice.

Thank you for pointing that out. :)

I text and wrote a letter to Kamala Harris and Dianne Feinstein.
