Comment: This swap made my mail ox a very happy one! I love the whole thing from the gorgeous handmade envie, the zine itself and the flowery confetti you included! I love the quotes and the colors! I too, have a difficult time getting mine to copy correctly, as I want to put my art right up to the edge of the paper and most copiers want, at least, a 1/2 inch border! I get around that by putting washi tape around the edges or cutting my paper down 1/2 inch so I can put my art up to the edge. Sometimes that works and sometimes the copier has a mind of its own and won't be tricked. Job well done, on your first, of many zines to come! Hugs from Alaska, Sherry

Comment: Your colorful sunny card brightened a dreary day. I love all the layers & techniques you combined, & of course the camels! Coincidentally, on the card I did for this swap, I used a bit of a vintage map of Egypt & added some Egyptian hieroglyphic numbers. I was wishing I had a camel image to include but in the holiday madness couldn't put my fingers on one. Happy New Year and may we swap again soon.

I have been trying for years to get bluebirds to come to our yard and feeders, even buying mealworms especially for them. This year we have a pair that built a nest in our back yard!! I can get them to come to the feeder when I play a bluebird call from an app on my phone! Comment: Oh what a fun package! I ate a ww brownie immediately. As i shoved it in my mouth (melty, by the way, so not a graceful process. Messy but effective!) i thought whoa! What if this is some kind of bath soap or something. But as i chewed i decided it might be worth a trip to the ER) Then i opened the first gift... A rainbow of washi fun!!! A white pen! (I've been wanting one for so long!) The crown made me laugh. :-) the cards are GREAT, and all the fun papery bits (where did you find that old matchbook cover???) and the stamp... Wow! ... but my favorite thing was definitely the handmade bookmark. Everything was perfect... Thank you so much for such a thoughtful box of happy mail!

The metal pieces are really inspiring to many different ideas I have when I see it. Comment: I love that everything in the swap matched, right down to the stationery--nice touch! How did you go about making that background paper? It's a really nice effect!
Response: Thanks for the kind comments and the heart! The background is 1) two layers of random found object stencils using pink fabric spray, 2) random swatches of gouache in bright colors to completely cover page, 3) French text stamp and random found object red acrylic stamps, 4) a layer of white gesso smeared on by hand to cover page and then teal acrylic and yellow gouache blended in, 5) spritzed with a lot of water and let sit for a minute then removed randomly with wadded paper towel to let bottom layers show through. It was a lot of fun!

She's a wonderful artist!I just repeated her stencil technique layer on top of layer until I liked what I had. On the envelope - I just peeled apart a plain envelope, painted and collaged on it, filled out my info and the swap info and then took it up to Office Max and ran copies.
