Last week due to Hurricane Milton I mailed off all swaps at the local post office, I thought they were rerouting all mail temporarily (like they have done in the past), but I found out that they stopped mail completely to my area (all our mail goes through Tampa), it was supposed to resume on Friday, but it did not, it finally resumed on 10-14-24, so the mail I put in the Box at the post office has just been sitting there. Hello Lovely Swappers!

Below is still the story of my Mom (being ill, having a stroke), she is doing better, but still has ups and downs. She still loves seeing swaps that I get, You have all been so amazing sending her cards, and goodies that she uses for her scrapbook, she has a little display board near her chair where she will put some of her favorites. Even though she cannot read too well still, she loves the notes that you all send her, I just can't thank you all enough, it really brightens her day when I show her something one of you have sent or even made for her. So my request still stands, if we are ever paired together for a card swap, or you just want to spread some kindness, I would love for her to get thinking of you cards, or whatever the nearest holiday cards, she loves it. It really means so much to me! If we are partners or you have my address from previous swapping, its the same, and her name is Barbara (same last name). Also, please put your Swap-Bot ID on the card or envelope somewhere so I can thank you!

She likes butterflies, Betty Boop, Angels, alligators, ladybugs, dachshunds, patriotic things (red white & blue), plants and flowers. I am an easy going person, have a unique sense of humor, very open minded, I like tattoos, my ears are gauged, I love all animals, I enjoy meeting new people (oddly enough I am an introvert [INFP-A]), I love to learn something new every day, I'm a child at heart (a nerdy child), game-show nut, puzzle nut (word find, soduku, fill-ins, brain teasers, cryptic puzzles), I adore jigsaw puzzles too.

Postcards, I kind of like them all... but I LOVE LOVE (and prefer) handmade postcards! Also unless the swap requires it I like 'em stamped and naked!! 🙂📫

My beautiful Mother and I when I was a wee one:

My Mom is my best friend, and back in May of 2019 I asked the beautiful people here on Swap-Bot to help me make her 73rd birthday and the fact that she was retiring after 52 years of nursing special. The absolutely amazing Swap-Bot community went above and beyond, she loved everything, she had intended on writing some of you back, but she got ill, then in August went to have "routine" surgery and became very ill, so much so we nearly lost her twice, then she had a stroke, and we were told there was nothing that could be done for her, and we should stop all treatment, she was seriously ill, and now had a stroke. Somehow, she was so strong, and made it.

She was in rehab/therapy in a nursing home setting for an entire year, although the last 3 months of it was due to the pandemic. She has been home for 3.5 yrs now, and thankfully she is mobile with a few mobility aids, she does her personal care herself, she can communicate with some aphasia (inability to say the "correct" words sometimes). But she is still with us, still has her sense of humor, her compassion, her empathy, she is just a little more emotional, and somehow a little more stubborn! But, I love her, and she is still my best friend.

As for me!

I just love to be creative, I love making things. I guess you could call me a dabbler, I have a tendency to try anything just to see how its done. However, my favorite crafts to do are paper crafts (particularly cards, ATC's, collages & stamping), art journaling, some drawing/painting, sewing, trash to treasure/recycling type crafts, and when I have time miniatures. I am obsessed with paper and ephemera (huge collager), and love to use it in my crafting. However, I am NOT a scrapbooker (think Junk Journals/Art Journals)

I really love making ATC's, handmade envelopes, note cards, bookmarks, postcards, inchies, twinchies, Index Cards, Inkbox Cards, chunky houses, folders, pockets and folios (like some from youtube tutorials), one page wonders, etc. I love using nicely patterned papers, I really like unique and monochromatic papers. I recently got a gelli plate, and hope to start incorporating that into some of my creations.

I love to be outdoors, the summers in Florida kind of well suck for that, but I love the Fall and Winter the most, and early spring, I just enjoy being in nature, and being with my animals (see below), I do have chickens as well. I also have a garden, started in 2019, only grew tomatoes, now I have been able to harvest cucumbers, lots of bell peppers, jalapenos, watermelon, tomatoes, tons and tons of basil, lots of other herbs, potatoes and green beans!

I LOVE movies! Just as much as crafting! I particularly like horror, sci-fi, fantasy, Bazaar & unusual movies, (including foreign), comedy/action type movies, the classic movies from the 40s and 50s (Marilyn, Greta, Audrey, Jane, Grace, Natalie, Ava, Gene), ANY Shirley Temple movie! Cheesy 50's & 60's horror, as well as the new cheesy Sy-Fy channel movies! I am also a total sucker for the typical "guy flick" action movie!

Some of my favorites are Long Kiss Goodnight, Trick R Treat (LOVE Sam!), Nobody, Batteries Not Included, Monster Squad, The Purge Movies, the Die Hard Series, ET, The Thing (John Carpenters Version), Avatar, Jurassic Park, Predator Movies, The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, Alien Movies (the actual series with Sigourney Weaver), Jennifers Body, Chappie, The Abyss, 28 Days Later, American Werewolf In London, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Labyrinth, Harry Potter Series, Pan's Labyrinth, Legend💕, Willow, The Dark Crystal, The Little Princess (1939), The Neverending Story, Big Fish, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Freaky, Hellboy, Train to Busan, Halloween Series (even #3 which WTF was that?!), Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street, Fantastic Beasts, The Princess Bride, House of Wax (original 1953)The Fifth Element, White Christmas, and so many more I can't even list them!

💞Music is life!💗 I am listening to it about 90% of the time! I like all types of music, from Beethoven to ZZtop with oldies, country, pop, and metal tossed in too! If I absolutely had to pick a genre it would be a toss-up between 70s/80s rock, and the '90s! I do love being introduced to new music. Just to give you a taste of my eclectic music taste there is one playlist that I listen to everyday, it is constantly changing, but right now, 20 random artists on it are:

I LOVE to read (as I said, I love a lot of things!), my book tastes are similar to my movie and TV tastes, horror, EMP apocalypse, True Crime, Science fiction, supernatural, fantasy, mystery (I adore Nancy Drew!), history (especially ancient times), and the occasional autobiography. I love and prefer "real" books to digital, nothing like the smell and feel of a real paper book. I do read most of the EMP books on my kindle though, because there are some great self published authors on there.

Purple is my absolute favorite color, any shade of it, especially richer, darker purples, I also love orange, again any shade of it, blue and yellow are great accent colors, black is part of everything I do! I really like darker pinks, and the Pan flag colors of Blue, yellow and Pink together. I do really enjoy rainbow combinations of color, as well as monochromatic. As for metallics, always been a silver/copper girl, never been a huge fan of gold.

Miniatures, including Z & N scale trains/buildings, 1/12, 1/24 & 1/48 scale dollhouses, I love making them, have made dioramas, shadowboxes, and more, I do have a lovely dollhouse that I need to finish.

While Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday and time of year (fall, and please see below), I do love Christmas, all of the decorating, gift/card making and general warm fuzzy feeling as well as the cooler/cold weather.

I do enjoy anything vintage, real or reproductions, anything from 60s or before, paper, books, tickets, whatever it may be. Crap! Trash? Ok, maybe not trash, but bits and baubles that most would throw out, old calendar, those movie tickets, scraps of ribbon or fabric, etc. I love things like this, including ephemera, love it, and love to use it in my crafts!! Let's call it "spatially challenged" as it has no space anywhere, but in my home for future use! Yes, spatially challenged... For example; game paper pieces (money, cards, thin items), card game cards, single playing cards, receipts from things like trains, planes, and buses, tickets from movies, used postage stamps, bits of ribbon, buttons, old greeting cards, old calendars and more! Anything that can be used for paste/collage art or even to make handmade envelopes).

I felt Halloween Deserved it's own space.

I love Halloween, and other than clowns (except Killer Klowns from Outer Space, the only acceptable clowns, and It), I love everything about it. Ghosts, witches, pumpkins, costumes, the Devil imagery, bats, spiders, ALL OF IT. From the cutesy to the gothic, to the gory, skulls, mad scientist labs. If it can be categorized as Halloween, I LOVE it!

I love the color combinations of Purple & Orange, Black & Orange, for Halloween and for every day. Vintage Halloween, gothic Halloween, and so on!

I really enjoy spooky, witch, monster, or Halloween themed swaps, I am happily in a couple Halloween Groups.

I love to cook and bake, and love any kind of recipes! With the exception of shellfish or most fish, as I am allergic. Ok, I have no children, but I do have "babies" they are my pets. I love my animals.

I do live with my parents, so not all the animals are mine! We have 5 dogs and a cat!

So MY babies are Sova (pitbull gorgeous Blue eyed girl), and Bob the cat (orange tabby). And I have a sweet little piggy named Neo (guinea pig).

My families dogs are Groot, and Cocoa (both mini weenie dogs), and Thor (big handsome Pit/Lab mix, big teddy bear).

I rate you on the swap and if it followed the guidelines, not extras unless they are specifically part of the swap, but on that note, for me extras are welcome!

On that same note, I do not always include extras unless I have something I think my partner may like, or use, or its part of the swap. I will also respect my partners wishes if they specifically state no extras!
