Hi. I'm a tech/biology student in my twenties living in southern Finland. I read about Swap-bot some years ago, but rediscovered it in January 2009. This definitely is interesting..
I use economy mail to save a little money. So my sendings will take some time for their journey (the farther you live from me, the longer it will usually take:)
Here are some examples of average delivery times of economy mail from Finland - to GB: 8-10 workdays - to USA: 10-15 - to Australia: 12-17
I hope you don't mind the wait :) ATC's and postcards (+ other light stuff) I send on their way in the priority class, though...
Some stuff I'm interested in:
presidential elections ;)
any kind of nice little things from your country..local curiosities most welcome :)
There's way more animals and critters I like than dislike, so almost everything goes (not too fond of tapeworms and other similar fellows, but actually, if you have a picture of one, I most likely won't get disgusted. Just don't send me the real thing;)
I have favorites, though: aforementioned reptiles, otters and the Least Weasel ("lumikko" in Finnish;) Birds and fish are great, too - predators like pike, sharks, hawks, shrikes and owls may be the coolest.
I'ts hard to say which are my fav colors. Let's say that I love colors that can be found in nature. Metal shades are great too.
If you send stuff with lots of text (books/stories/etc), please use English, German, Swedish or Finnish. Snippets of text in another languages are quite interesting, too.
Something else I happen to like:
Comics: Neil Gaiman, Watchmen, Peanuts, The Perry Bible Fellowship...
Angelo Badalamenti, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Chemical Brothers, David Bowie, Ennio Morricone, KLF, Kosheen, Kraftwerk, Live, Moby, Nine Inch Nails, Queen...
I listen many other kinds of music, too. Some favorites that come to mind (I don't even know the names of all those songs I love to hear...):
Gerry Rafferty - "Baker Street" The Animals - "The House of the Rising Sun" Dolly Parton - "Jolene" Nightwish - "Sleeping Sun" Gary Jules feat. Michael Andrews - "Mad World" Smashing Pumpkins - "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning" Alabama3 - "Woke Up This Morning" Kate Bush - "Wuthering Heights"
. .
Back to the Future I-III, Blade Runner, Edward Scissorhands, Groundhog Day, 12 monkeys, Miller's Crossing, Pan's Labyrinth, The Bourne trilogy, Star Trek, Star Wars (Original Trilogy), The Usual Suspects, Se7en, The Fifth Element...
Movies (old and new) I would like to see: LeΓΒ³n, Lola rennt, In Bruges, The Manchurian Candidate (1962), M - Eine Stadt sucht einen MΓΒΆrder...
Favorite film directors: Sergio Leone, Terry Gilliam, Quentin Tarantino, Joel&Ethan Coen
I don't want to be picky, but here's something I don't need:
I don't regularly follow any series now...but I'll list here some of my favorites:
The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, Frasier, The Simpsons, Top Chef :P English comedy
