About Me

***********I am so sorry that i have fallen behind on my swaps. i had a best friend in serious trouble and i had to leave my home for a month with him to try and get him some help. i will mail out all the swaps i have fallen behind on right away. most of them are finished but just need to be mailed. i can understand why people would be upset, and i don't like to let people down. i just had to make a choice to help a friend i love dearly, and leaving everything behind to be with him was the only way at this time. i'm sorry for disappointing people. i am a caregiver at heart, and love to make sure that everyone is happy and taken care of so i feel bad that i have made others feel bad. please have a little patience for me if you are able...with the understanding that i am trying to save my best friend's life. thanks. ********

iÒ€ℒm a knitting/spinning punk/wanna-be elf/pirate living on the west coast of canada, spinning myself to relative sanity while i finish my social work degree.

i drink tons of tea (black, white and green with yummy flavors like vanilla and pumpkin) - i prefer loose tea, and grow my own herbal teas so i don't need any of those. i love chocolate, toffee and candies - raspberry and lychee...new flavors too

i collect yarn and spinning fiber - my favorites are alpaca and mohair-loop (boucle), although i like blending all sorts of new fibers. i really don't like acrylic

i can always use sparkly, shell, wood or other interesting or antique buttons and beads, ribbons, polka-dot ribbon, especially lace (i love crocheted lace) and interesting ribbons

i love vintage and thrifted things, especially victorian-style...lace, little teacups, vintage linens...and things that remind me of my british grandmothers... little bird ornaments, english cottages...eclectic british style if that makes sense.

i love camping, storms, travelling, writing and recieving letters, climbing trees and watching sunsets from rooftops. i travel a lot and pick things up along the way- i love things from india, sweden and norway and morocco some great places i have travelled

i love handmade soaps and lip balms - sandalwood, jasmine, vanilla and other heady scents. lavender is my favorite, but artificial scents give me allergies.

i live with my sweet boyfriend and two kitties in an old heritage house near the ocean. we love to garden, plant seeds, hike through forests, sit on the beach, listen to music and watch the ocean...especially during a storm. one day we will have a little farm with goats, bunnies and children running around

i love swapping - a fun chance to try new things and meet new friends

Wishlist

handmade soaps, especially in my favorite scents, vanilla, coffee, sandalwood, jasmine, toffee, food scents. i collect handmade soaps, and love interesting ones, especially olive oil or goats milk soaps.

folksy fabric, or fabric with leaves, mushrooms, little houses, polar bears, other little animals on it. looking for small pieces or even scraps of japanese and other really sweet fabrics

handmade items like little zippered pouches - what else do you love to make?

dark elves and faeries

toadstools, the red and white ones, but i like all of them

stamps with spiders, toadstools, leaves, ravens and crows, trees on them

glass beads

sparkly beads and all sorts of other types of beads other than plastic

vintage or unique buttons

ribbons - vintage crochet lace especially, but all sorts of ribbons

felt, pieces of felt sweaters

faerie or dragon items

anything with ravens/crows

sugar skulls

pirate things

dark coffee

flavored teas

elvish things

hallowe'en stuff - spiders spinning webs, things that remind you of sweeney todd/tim burton

my profile has lots of other ideas on it too...

Favorite colors

i love anything purple or pink, especially baby pink and eggplant or other deep purples. i love purple and green or green with bits of gold/bronze sparkle.

i also like retro color combinations like teal and red, or black and baby pink, black and red.

i wear autumn colors(pumpkin, olive, deep purples) and like black, chocolate brown or grey as neutrals.

i don't really like orange, unless it's hallowe'en (which is my favorite holiday) or beige or taupe. pastels aren't my favorite, but they have their place in spring-like things.

Favorite Crafts

i have found my true love in fiber arts - spinning and knitting, and i am going to try weaving too.

i like quilting and sewing too. i love to collect little bits and pieces of antique trims, buttons, zippers and such for sewing though. indian trims and sari fabric bits. i love vintage kitchen aprons and dish towels.

i love polka dots and stripes, especially in my favorite colors. i like unusual ribbons, like scandanavian ones, or indian sari ribbon.

i also love vintage stationary, japanese papers and other fancy papers...especially ones with flowers and leaves in them.

i like the idea of trying new crafts too!

i like stamps, especially if they match my interests - knitting, sheep, vintage hallowe'en, spiders and webs, pirates, leaves, trees and forests, tea and tea pots. i would like to try embossing and need stamp pads

i love stickers of the things above too.

Favorite Books

i love reading, and collect books about herbal medicine, homesteading, mushrooms and other edible forest finds, all sorts of crafts and diy (like how to fix bikes, weaving, wood carving, anything really).

Dislikes

i am not religious, so i'm not comfortable recieving religious themed items at all, or angels. or patriotic.

i don't like plastic or plastic-y things like acrylic yarn. i'm clumsy and break things a lot, so i should like plastic...i just don't though.

i'm not really in to sports, although i love hiking and things like that.

i don't wear make up, other than lip balms...not make-up, i know.

i am allergic to artificial scents.

Favorite Music

i listen to political punk, metal and hip hop, although i am starting to branch out into some calmer music too, mostly eerie music with haunting women's voices. i like unique classical music, but will listen to anything once - and probably twice.
