I used to take my kids to the Outer Banks EVERY YEAR for a summer vacation! We always stayed in Avon. The thing I liked the most about visiting the Outer Banks was the fact that there were no hotels, so the beaches were so uncrowded. I have never liked being 'in' the ocean (I like swimming pools where I can see the bottom) but sitting beside the ocean is like being transported to another world--it's so healing.
