IΓ’β¬β’m Brigid, and I'm 23. I work in development for a nonprofit organization that helps "at risk" and homeless youth, and at night, I make jewelry. I primarily create fun, fresh, and sometimes funky bracelets, necklaces and earrings. I recently started making pendants and stitch/row markers, too. I live with my amazing boyfriend in an apartment full of my junk, though we recently moved to a larger place where I have a crafting room! My hobbies include baking, cooking, acting, reading, dancing, singing, and traveling. I'm a vegetarian, feminist, animal lover, Italophile and all-around pile of silliness. My favorite color is purple. I love meeting new people!

I'm in love with this old hairy beast

and this one, too.
My favorite artists are Rilo Kiley, Ben Folds, Tom Petty, The Elected, Joshua Radin, The Shins, Dar Williams, Gary Jules, Cary Brothers, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beck, Fiona Apple, Carole King, Sheryl Crow, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, and the Dixie Chicks. I love indie rock and singer/songwriters and am always interested in hearing something new.
My favorite books are "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, "The Big Money" by John Dos Passos, "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov, "The Perpetual Ending" by Kristen den Hartog, "Reading Lolita in Tehran" by Azar Nafisi, "This Boy's Life" by Tobias Wolff, "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin, "The Te of Piglet" by Benjamin Hoff, "Lone Star Swing" by Duncan McLean, "As I Lay Dying" by William Faulkner, and "Colomba" by Dacia Maraini.
My top ten movies are:
1. Say Anything (1989)
2. Before Sunrise (1995)
3. Little Women (1994)
4. Spellbound (2002)
5. The Apartment (1960)
6. O Brother Where Art Thou? (2000)
7. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
8. The Graduate (1967)
9. The Wizard of Oz (1939)
10. Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (1996)
The only shows I watch regularly are "Lost" and the Thursday night comedies: "Scrubs," "The Office," "30 Rock," and "My Name Is Earl." I will admit to enjoying "America's Next Top Model", too. I also wish I still had cable so I could watch "Project Runway."
I love crafting in general, though IΓ’β¬β’m just now getting into all of it. Currently, in addition to designing jewelry, IΓ’β¬β’m trying my hand at making cards and little books, crocheting, sewing, and collage/mixed media art. I want to foray into needle arts, paper making, and pretty much everything else, too.
I love Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz stuff. I'm also a huge Shirley Temple fan, much to my boyfriend's dismay. I'm one of the biggest chocoholics you'll ever meet, no joke. I also love sour candy, especially Sour Patch Kids. I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian, if that ever ends up mattering in swaps. I love animals of all kinds. I'm a Unitarian-Universalist, so I'm open to and interested in all religious beliefs, but similarly, I won't send texts trying to convert you if you do the same for me. If I could live any where in the world, it would be Italy, and I'm a traveler at heart. As a result, I love getting postcards and other souvenirs from around the world. I'm a genuinely happy, upbeat, optimistic gal. :)
I'm big on cooking and baking, so recipes or recipe cards would be awesome. I'm also chronically disorganized, so boxes/folders/etc. for my craft supplies and such would be lovely. I love monsters -- I like to pretend to be one, and my boyfriend pretends to be scared. Things with monsters on them or shaped like monsters would be way awesome. Snails are my other thing. I still carry a bag to work every day with two cutesy snails (named Stanley and Mortimer) on it. I make jewelry and LOVE to get supplies in packages (findings, beads, etc.). I also like getting jewelry made by other swappers because variety is nice. I'd also love supplies for crocheting (not knitting, though -- WORST KNITTER EVER), sewing, bookbinding (still learning), and any little paper or embellishing bits. If you live in Europe or any other thinking place that sells paprika-flavored Pringles, I'll be your new best friend if you send me some. I LOVE them but cannot get them in the US because some evil person at corporate won't sell them here.
I have only the most random allergies: dust, pollen, mold, macadamia nuts, hairspray, lots of perfume, and sun-ripened raspberry stuff from Bath and Body Works. I'm a vegetarian, as I mentioned, so things made with animal products (fur, leather, etc.) or food containing them (ingredients such as gelatin, beef fat, animal rennet, etc.) are not good for me. I don't like raisins or peanuts but enjoy grapes and peanut butter. I'm also not into kawaii or anything of that nature. In general, though, I'm not super picky. As long as I'm not allergic to it, I'll appreciate whatever I receive.
