About Me

Hi, my name is Wendy and I am 33 years old. I just finished my PhD in philosophy.

Traveling, books, cooking and crocheting are what I like to do most in my freetime. Alice in Wonderland is my favorite story. China might be my favorite country to travel to.

I am really happy to have found a platform that facilitates the great joy of sending and receiving snail mail! I love preparing beautiful packages, I love the short walk to the letter box, I love the sound of a stuffed envelope on the door mat and I just love the way the front door won't open properly because of all the mail lying on the mat! To me, swapping is a truly cozy and comforting activity.

Me, my husband and 3 year old son live in a city center home in the Netherlands. My son is a very active kid, with a good dose of curiosity and very eager to learn. At this moment he is fascinated by everything that has to do with space. Apart from that, he likes cars and animals.

Traveling is what I like to do most, whenever I have the chance. I love meeting people from other cultures, hearing and telling stories, discovering foreign landscapes, foreign bio diversity and foreign lifestyles. Trying new foods is also one of the greatest things about traveling. Asia is my favorite continent for traveling, and China probably my favorite country. Also I really enjoyed traveling in Taiwan (Taiwanese food is the best!), Cambodia and Vietnam.

I love reading books and magazines. I collect Alice in Wonderland books since about fifteen years old. My collection grows bigger and bigger. Lewis Carroll was a fascinating man, I love the way he plays with language and logic. The nonsensical style in his work is funny and smart.

I like to read magazines about interior design and about food. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I just love food, all kinds of food and I love to explore new flavors and combinations. I am very interested in swapping food and recipes. Everything from other countries is more then welcome! For example local spices, cookies or candy and anything else that can reasonably be sent. I have no allergies whatsoever. Oh, and I love tea and chocolate, but who doesn't?

My other hobby is crocheting, if I had the time I'd do it every day! Therefore I am very interested in yarn of all kinds (natural fibers only). All colors are welcome. I am especially interested in traditional supplies from all over the world, like yarn from llama/alpaca/camel etc and ribbons with traditional patterns/designs.

Favorite Books

Alice in Wonderland has always been my favorite story, ever since I was very little. I read a lot of philosophical books for work. In my free time I like to read about history, language and biodiversity.

Favorite Crafts

Crocheting. I do it almost every day! I make amigurumi, scarfs, pillows, doilies, blankets and many other things. I work with all kinds of yarn, wool, cotton, acrylic, camel, llama, bamboo,.. from the thinnest of thread to the chunkiest t-shirt yarn.. well, everything I get my hands on.

I have been trying paper crafts but I don't do it a lot anymore. I have probably more supplies than I will ever use, so I have no use for more paper craft supplies.

My style

My interior is eclectic, quite a random combination of items that I like. I like warm and soft materials, like wool and wood. I do not like glass and metal.

I love Scandinavian design. Scandinavian food to. And Scandinavia itself, what beautiful countries! I once had the honor of driving all the way up to the North Cape. Wonderful experience!!

Wishlist

  • Tea. If you donโ€™t know what to send, send tea.

  • Space related items for my son.

  • Chocolate

  • Quality over quantity

  • Maple syrup everything, especially the candy (I received it once in a swap and loved it)!!

  • Foods from your country. I like trying foods I have never tasted before.

  • Lush products

  • Washi tape

  • Tea (I already said that, didnโ€™t I?) I like all kinds, apart from fruit tea, lemon is fine though. I prefer bags over loose tea.

  • Nuts and salty snacks

  • I'd love to receive your handmade items, and see the crafts you are especially good at. I consider it a great honor to receive handmade things that are made with love.

  • Mail art!! I love mail art!

Colors:

Pastel colors like mint, peach, cream and mocha. Besides that mustard, teal and petrol.

And besides this wishlist, things that make me happy are:

Scandinavian design - Vintage - Yarn - Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll - Traveling - China - Taiwan - Food - Cooking - Chocolate (in every flavor and shape) - Cookies - Candy - Handmade items - Hamsters - Moose - Owls - Reindeer, but most of all I love surprises, so please do not stick to this list!

Dislikes/ Don't need:

In general I don't wear any jewelry, so it's probably better to send jewelry to someone who loves it.

ATC's (I don't collect them)

Paper craft supplies. Really I have nonuse for them.

Small crafting items in general.

Souvenirs like keychains and magnets etc (unless I am in a souvenir swap, but even then I prefer local foods and local handicrafts over the standard souvenirs)

Religious items

Coconut!!!

Artificially flavored tea

Zentangled stuff

Sloppy swaps.

I have a small home, so quality over quantity is a basic rule of mine. Thanks!

About swapping

My goal is to make my swapping partners happy. I will send my swaps in time and will always rate what I receive. If anything goes wrong, please contact me, I will be happy to make things right.

I love private swaps (especially food swaps), contact me if you are interested.

Everything you'll receive from me comes from a smoke and pet free home.

Happy swapping to all!

Comment: Thank you for this awesome swap! The spoons are very cute. A lot of the glass beads fell off; so I'll glue them back on but that dosen't distract from there cuteness. Hopefully the wood beads I painted stay glued on your piece, I am pretty worried about them. I used E-6000 to adhere to the box and a glue gun for the glass beads. Please let me know.
Response: It seems our packages arrived on the same day :-). Glad you like the spoons! Sorry to hear some of the beads fell of, they were so tiny. Hope glueing them back on works out well. Yours stayed on very well. Thanks for the โค๏ธ
