I am a teacher and a fairly creative person. I have not done anything artistic for quite a while, which is why I joined Swap-bot. I really appreciate handmade items whether it be a utilitarian item, or a work of art. I love color as well as muted tones. I dabble in copper enameling in my free time. I'm very interested in making and receiving ATC's, I appreciate individuality and celebrate the differences amongst people. I garden, read and travel in my spare time. I look forward to the experiences I will have participating in Swap-bot!
I enjoy most genres of music. The only one I'm not fond of is Country music. I enjoy most Rock music from the late 60's and the 70's. I listen to an alternative music radio station and enjoy the music very much. My favorite musicians/bands are Paul Simon, Norah Jones and The Flaming Lips.
The books I like to read most are books about teaching and education. I enjoy fiction as well. My favorite novel is The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Also, I LOVE children's books, especially the illustrations. My favorite children's books are Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak and The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.
I have three all-time favorite movies. They are Gone With The Wind, The Sound of Music and Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. I enjoy drama, action, comedy and independent films.
I don't watch much TV, but I do have a few shows that I enjoy. The Antiques Roadshow, The Long Island Medium, Dr. Phil, CNN News, and 48 Hours Mystery/Crime Shows.
I live and breathe for crafts! I like to make holiday crafts and gifts, and jewelry. I get ideas from Pinterest, and magazines. I like to work with hand-made papers, acrylic paint, colored pencils, string, beads, buttons and baubles, metal and photographs. I would much rather get a handmade gift than a store-bought one and I prefer to wear hand-made jewelry over store-bought.
Things I would not like to receive in a swap are religious, violent, or political images or items.
Things I would like to receive are cute/whimsical owl or animal ATC's, stickers, buttons, etc. Also Washi tape samples, interesting string samples, flower ATC's, purple anything, rustic buttons and baubles, handmade/craft paper samples, and beads.
In a community of inspired, thoughtful, and artistic swappers, I believe we should show each other kindness, grace, and understanding. We all have enough stressors in our lives outside of swap-bot--let's not let swap-bot become one of those stressors instead of the joy it is meant to be!" quote by isabellasnow, reposted by ElliePatterson. Love It!
