Hi! My name is Lori. I'm an illustrator, ceramic artist and teacher. I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and I'm German and Creole - African and French. I'm the mom of a 6 year old girl. I have unhealthy obsessions with cats, dinosaurs, tea, coffee, and chocolate. I make pottery, sculpture, paintings and prints.

I collect stickers, random art supplies, Japanese/Korean kawaii items and stationary. I love reading - sci fi, fantasy, folklore, and YA. I also enjoy keeping journals and sketchbooks.

I like chill out music, indie, hip hop, some rock and punk, 60's french pop, and bossa nova.

Not a fan of country music in general, though I like a little bluegrass now and then. Religious/Christian/gospel music is a no.

I love to read and I love discovering new books. I always enjoy making new friends on Goodreads and seeing what you're reading too. Favorite genres are speculative fiction, sci fi/fantasy, memoir, and non fiction books about art, nature, neuroscience, and history and culture.

The Fifth Element, Labyrinth, Get Out (new favorite!!!), Hellboy and Hellboy II, Serenity, The Princess Bride, Hellraiser, Beautiful Creatures, Dead Alive, Adams Family Values, Velvet Goldmine

I love low budget horror, Sfx makeup and practical effects, 80's fantasy movies, and movies with an underlying social message or allegory. Guillermo Del Toro and Jim Henson are two of my favorite movie makers, as well as Peter Jackson.

Once Upon A Time, Call the Midwife, Star Trek: TNG, Princess Jellyfish, Adventure Time, Stephen Universe, Legend of Korra (I'm a huge fan of animation in general and also I'm eternally 12), Westworld, The Magicians, The Great British Baking Show, Luke Cage, Firefly, Merlin

Stamp and print making, sewing, collage, watercolor, and obviously clay. I've done a little book binding as well, though not in a while. I haven't done much mail art, but it's something I really enjoy! My daughter and I also collect stickers and have quite the collection of paper, glitter, glues, markers, paints, and inks. Our house is full to the brim with art materials.

Seriously considering learning to knit or crochet as well.

Crows, Cats, cephalopods, dinosaurs, spiders (especially orb weavers), bats, capybaras, rats and rodents are favorite animals, but there aren't too many animals I don't like.

I love bright colors - jewel tones and pastels are great, I love teal, baby blue, wasabi green, red orange, and bright or mustard yellow. Dislike burgundy and muted or earth tones, and I'm not a fan of huge amounts of pink.

I like charms, natural rocks, gemstones, and crystals, candles scented or otherwise, feathers, and other interesting found objects. I have a small curio shadow box full of jars, sculptures, little voodoo charms, and various tiny objects I've collected. Tiny animal bones are cool.
