ALERT- Sorry guys, I just (25 June ) got a bag of returned mail from swaps from the Post Officeπ€¦πΌββοΈ! Weird as I have been doing fine for years. I am preparing and sending out new swaps today, so please be patient! π»π»π»
Hello, I am a law advisor (creative arts and technology), and business owner in tropical Queensland, Australia by day, avid crafter, quilter, maker, collector, foodie and Bookclub leader of 200+ by night. I like the dark and mysterious, in literature, and movies. My love of nature leads to natures leafy greens, colourful birds and flowers, Art Deco plush purples and passionate reds reflect my crafty style, and when I put the sewing down I mostly love quiet, wine, and a good book surrounded by beautiful things. (My swops are always sent on time and photos/records kept but may take a week to get out of Townsville, and then a few weeks (and who knows with COVID delays) from Australia to your country- Pls message me if any problems)
My taste in music is very broad, hip hop to opera depending on my mood but of course it must always be suitably loud...
I run a book club to challenge my own reading and that of the group, and we read all different kinds of literature. Recent favourites include Lincoln in the Bardo, The Hunger Games Saga and Wuthering Heights, which after avoiding for years I did enjoy in the end! I love a dark mystery and avoid historical romance, but will try anything that is on a prize short list. I guess I love literature π
Art movies mostly, Scandi- noir, and anything mysterious and thrilling. We have an annual film festival here (I live in north Queensland away from the big cities) and I go to all 12 movies in 4 days and enjoy most of them, I like to see different countries and cultures in movies.
I seem to be obsessed with British crime tv, Agatha Christie, Morse, Frost and Sherlock, all reminds me of my childhood home, when I read these stories equally obsessively. From a recent swap I remembered Iβve watched a lot of Dr Who, River is my idol, my doctor runs, is merciful and mighty.
Hand sewing and knitting were my first loves but this has grown into machine sewing and crochet, paper crafts, jewellery and making everything I can. I am slowly improving my quilting and enjoy to patchwork and applique with lovely scraps of material. I find a new piece of material or decoration can start a whole new project. I collect many things, make and cook preserves, and drinks, bread and fermenting, grow herbs, spices, orchids and roses and trying a new creative thing is a great thrill.
I smile at a new project, the anticipation, the planning, the choosing the colours, the materials, the style, Deco or Nouveau-and the joy of planning turns into making, trying not to stuff it up, learning and succeeding- just do not ask me how many UFO I have in my craft bag! Gifting is so much fun that I love to make a gift for others, and smile when I work out a new project. Random stuff- I keep pet insects including stick insects and a large huntsman spider called pebble who I feed cockroaches.
I am a red wine, blue cheese and dark chocolate woman, who loves cinnamon and spice and all things nice...I like it less sweet, oranges and lemons, tang and sparkle, and something new and a taste adventure will always be dived into head first! I have given up on I am happy to embrace new experiences and try any new foods or drinks. Prefer not to receive tea any more- π

Hello, this is for Book Quote - September swap.
In September I read Lady Darby Mystery series by Anna Lee Huber - books 1 to 3. This is Historical Mystery set in 1830's with an artist as main character. In Mortal Arts there was a quote by Edgar Degas I really loved:
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."
Happy swapping, KSENiA
That is when she ought to be away, in the month of October, when the sadness of retreating light strikes.
