I live in Alabama. I started making ACTâs 9 years ago but just kind of stopped...there is a 1 from back then that has hurt my rating and ability to join swaps. Yes I contacted administrators and host back then and again this spring and I have heard nothing. Bottom line I did not Flake. Glad to share if necessary. If you are interested in private swaps you are welcome to check out my ATCâs on Instagram under donaherringsmith. I have had a couple successful ones and I do not flake. If something doesnât show -cause Mail happens-I will resend of course. I am about to head back to Graduate School. I am one year into my Masters of Social Work Degree. I have enjoyed this break, making ATCâs and swapping post cards however I must get back to that after the New Year. Trying to enjoy swaps until!
I earned my BS and meet my husband at Auburn University. I begin college an art student, was a sports photographer for a decent size newspaper but ended up with an undergrad degree in Family & Child Development and Art History to help support my husband during his USA Olympic track and field career - 2 Olympics after we graduated and had our daughter. I returned to college to earn a Masters in Library Science and Technology from Uof Alabama. Used my undergrad and grad degrees as a Childrens Services Department Head at a larger public library. It is important to know I am proud of my degree from UofA...However I am a born and raised Tiger fan....My member name is AuTiger!
I am currently working on that second Masters at Auburn University. Not online, on campus, driving down three days a week and gosh it has been hard transitioning from supervisor to student....studying all night instead of fun stuff.
I married a fellow AU graduate. He is a 3 time USA Olympic Athlete...Gold in '84, he has trained lots of Olympic and Pro athletes. He can still wear his college uniform-I cannot wear my college clothes.
We have one daughter and she is also an AU alum. She became our artsy one-an architect. She works for a large University and is currently remodeling her own 1950 mid century. We are purging all her Shabby Chic for a sleek minimalist look.
I own a 9 year old female boxer named Shug Jordan. I babysit my daughterâs rescue 120lb Lab, hound, something big and sweet mix, Charles Barkley. After my fatherâs death I brought my fatherâs German Shepherd to live with me. He is 10 and a sweetheart, named Night.
Altered anything; books, journals, old sofa paintings.. But for now just doing ACT's and trying the Journaling thing...though I have embellished, and expressing myself in Journals since my Fine Art Prof in Undergrad untroduced us to Art Journals. I have years of Work Planners full of headers, doodles and colored pens and embellishments. I used to hand piece and hand quilted in my teens, my great grandmother taught me. I had my grandmother âs quilting racks until my sister stole them from me! I just got a new Singer. Going to see if I can remember how to make an apron. Once upon a time I did a lot of cross-stitch and still have a chest full of thread, fabric, patters, hoops and my sorority chest I begin 32 years. I was introduced to calligraphic / copperplate years ago in college and still dabble at it...but I had to paid someone to do our daughterâs wedding invitations so yea...while I have the tools I lack the skills. I am a huge fan of John Lytle Wilson..meet him. I love his altered art! Google him. My best friend-Robin Metz-is a very accomplished artist, mostly pottery currently but I own a couple of her beautiful paintings. One of the children who grew up in my library, Chip is now an accomplished artist. I considered my self a friend of Frank Fleming a famous Alabama sculptor-google his stuff it is so beautiful found all over the south! Two of my old art night friend have had ATCâs published in Somerset magazine. I am in awe of their talent.
Steely Dan Tom Petty Eagles Cold Play Civil Wars Adele Imitation Dragons Anything produced in the Muscle Shoals-watch the PBS special on Fame studio and the Shoals sound and you will to. I grew up in the area and my Father knew the late Rick Hall since their teens.
Currently love listening to NPR pod-cast as I drive down to school.
All I read are textbooks and research papers...but as a librarian I have meet some great authors, lots of famous Childrenâs authors at ALA (American Library Association) conventions and visits to my library over the years. Also lots of southern favorites like Rick Bragg, Pat Conroy, Fanny Flagg, Ace Atkins and I have a copy of To Kill A Mockingbird that was personality signed for me years ago by Ms Harper Lee ...she hated autographing her book-my charming brother arranged this treasure.
Now I am in school not much TV but I like PBS the Miniaturist, Handmaids Tale, Call the Mid-wives, Killing Eve-BBC, WestWorld, Grace & Frankie, and Game of Thrones...oh the Goodplace is fun. Lots of Netflix and Showtime series.
I can never think of movies I love when I am asked! Princess Bride, 9 to 5, Gladiator, Elf, The Others,
I have attended Auburn Football and other sporting events since I was a child. We still spend every home football game Saturday tailgating with friends on our campus. That is a ritual at SEC schools big tents, lots of folks, food and drink and 85,000 plus friends. My dear friends son is now one of the top basketball players in the nation so we are adding Weds nights at the Auburn arena. I donât do the tea thing. Down here tea is sweet and over ice. However I love coffee hot or iced....but with sugar too. I just like the ones I like.

Wow amazing what both you and your husband have accomplished! Welcome to swapping. I relate some to your start in school, I was a psychology major and an art minor but all my degrees ended up being in criminal justice, which is what I finally fell in love with. I look forward to swapping with you in the future.

Hello Dona,
I hope that this little message finds you doing well! As for myself, I'm excited about the day. All I have to do today is swaps! DAY OFF. YAY! Yes, Ma'am tea is sweet and over ice down here in the south and I so glad of it. Have you ever tasted some of the teas that people send in swaps? I haven't been to scared lol Hope you have a wonderful day! HUGS
Hi Dona,
You seem to have a lot on your plate with school. I attempted to go back this fall and I failed miserably. I see that you like to journal I do, too. I am going to be attempting to do an ATC. I am not sure if I can do it. I am one of those people who get stuck in doing something that it has to be perfectly neat and I think it is messy I rip it up and throw it away. I also like to exchange packages privately. Do you like pen paling because I would to pen pal with you? Take care of yourself. Also I hope that you have a merry and joyful Christmas and new year.

Hi Dona!
My favourite Christmas movie is definitely Home Alone! We love watching Home Alone 1 and Home Alone 2 with Macaulay Culkin. These movies are traditional for our family. Last December I show them to my son for the first time, and he loved them very much. Recently he asked me when we are going to what Home Alone again:)
I wish you to be happy and joyful this winter! Happy Holidays!
