Let's up the ante with our skill set here and show our stuff! We will make a pendant using cold connections. This includes rivets or tiny brass screws and hex nuts. You can use silver, brass, copper, or jewelers grade aluminum. Embellish your piece however you'd like but the base must be a metal. NO PLASTICS-Not even on embellies unless it's resin or acrylic. There are many tutorials on how to make cold connections & I will list one below. Make your piece at least 1" and must have 1 connected component. Anymore than that is up to you! Check your partners profile for allergies please. Also, regarding allergies, a sealant can be applies to metals that will touch the skin that can keep you from being irritated. Another suggestion is to wear your pendant on a long enough chain, that it rests on your clothes rather than your skin :) Pm me with any questions & have fun getting creative! Here's a great page explaining cold connections: http://www.jewelrymakingdaily.com/blogs/daily/archive/2010/06/25/7-favorite-cold-connections.aspx Here's another regarding screws & nuts: http://e1.interweave.com/dm?id=0AC289DF8ED2FB64A61A459E14B631694A50DCDD5D303444 the picture above is shown with rivets-note that we will be making a pendant so include a hole or something for the pendant to hang. A chain is not required. |
