I have no idea what an "inchie" is, but how are us newbies supposed to get started if we cant join ? how do we get established ?

An inchie is a tiny piece of art that is 1" x 1". They can be mini collages, or photos, pr drawings or paintings--anything artsy. I often use mine for embellishments on Artist Trading Cards, and other collage type art pieces. You can also make charms of them by attaching wire and beads or other embellishments to inchies made on sturdy watercolor paper, etc.

There are lots of "newbie" swaps out there to get into to become established. There are also other swaps that allow newbies with completed profiles to join.

This "no-newbie" restriction, sadly, is to try to prevent the rotten folks who create memberships, join swaps and never send anything after they receive things from their partners.

The Swap-bot admin have done wonderful things to help prevent this happening, but as a result of the misery from past occurrences, many swap hosts are reluctant to let newbies join.

The best thing to do is find some newbie welcoming swaps and join them to get into the swing of things, communicate well with your partners and fulfill your swaps. Then you will no longer be a newbie and can join anything.

This swap may go away before you can accomplish that, but there is nothing to stop you then from starting one just like it of your own!

I make a list of swaps I like, but don't have time to join right now so I can host a similar one later when I have time. There will always be another swap to join--as long as we all can keep enjoying pleasant swap experiences!
