Description:

This is the first installation of what will be a 6-part series. If you participate in all six swaps, you will eventually have a 36" x 36" friendship blanket! Great to throw over a couch or display somewhere proudly :)

The rules: Crochet or knit six 6"x6" squares and send them to one partner. They can be of ANY color (feel free to check out your partner's profile and use colors they enjoy)..other than that, there really are no specifications. Use the type of yarn you like...just make sure it is a standard granny square style.

Please rate your partner! There's nothing worse than putting time and effort into a project and not getting a response. Rate a 5 if they sent six granny squares..regardless if you like the colors. Rate a 3 if they sent something completely different..the size is vastly different or the style is not a granny square. Rate a 1 if they did not send anything and did not respond to your messages.

Please, no flakers! I'm willing to angel the swap if need be, but I'm hoping everyone commits to this.

I should note that it's acceptable if the square meets a little over or under 6 inches..I realize it's hard to perfectly meet the measurement standards. Anything close to 6 inches is great, I'm sure we can accommodate any difference in size, as long as it's not too vast :)

One more thing- please check back on my profile when you are done sending out this swap, if you'd like to join the second installation of this project.

My goal is to start the next one as soon as we're finished with the preceding one...in an effort to get all six swaps done within a nice time frame!

Thanks for hosting these! I did one awhile ago and ended up with a wonderful blanket that I gifted to my mom. This one will be for me! Am looking forward to the relaxation of making granny squares!

That's awesome, Leah! I'm excited to make a blanket too, this one will be displayed in my living room :)

I'm hooked on granny squares!! Looking forward to swaping

Krotcher2008 03/16/2011 #

I am correct it is the traditional granny square pattern?

bobogrl 03/17/2011 #

Krotcher, yes, a traditional granny square pattern. Here's a link for a standard one: http://files.hookedonneedles.com/uploaded_images/Traditional-Granny-Square-front-727964.JPG

Of course you don't have to incorporate different colors in your square, how you pick and use the colors is up to you! :) I'm glad we have so many interested people joining!

zurdoswifey 03/19/2011 #

Do they need to have the border on them?

zurdoswifey 03/19/2011 #

What I mean is like the border on your photo? Or just the standard edge so they can add their own border... like for instance if they wanted to add their own borders before putting them together so that it matches with crazy squares... I dont think I am making sense... ha ha

I can send you photos if you need to see what I am talking about...

bobogrl 03/21/2011 #

Hi zurdoswifey, no you don't need to put a border on them...just a 6x6 square, and your partner will join them with a border. Feel free to ask any questions! :)
