Are they usually made out of MOO cards?

enjoy 09/30/2007 #

They should have the format of the MOO Cards, but not digital ones.... handmade with rubber stamps, mixed media, fabric etc.

So would that be about 1.10" x 2.75"?

Please take a look at the samples - the tall had to be 1.10" x 2.75".

This looks so fun, I went and made my backgrounds already.

Someone should do a Halloween one.

Sorry folks had to drop this one...

I have been playing around & making some moo dolls by way of practice & they are so poor I have given up!!! LOL

I would hate to disappoint anyone so I think I'd better give it a miss!

Fabric is definately my thing! Now where my needle & thread.

Hope you guys have fun with this :)

Will be watching the gallery to see what you come up with.

Are the heads glued onto card stock or something before being put on?

Mine are almost done... they will probably go out today. I really had so much fun making them, even though I started out very intimidated by the gorgeous ones I saw, and the beautiful ones I received from Suziqz. (Thanks, Suziqz!) I loved the little envelopes she made for them, with a punched hole for part of their faces to show through. So I made some for mine, too. These were the first I had ever made, and I am wanting to make more. I would love to have some for every holiday.

I'll try to post a photo of mine on my flickr acct. later today. Right now I am getting ready to go have lunch with a friend, and I want to take my dolls with me to show her. :)

Oops! I forgot I was going to tell the other newbies how I did mine, too. I used small scale Christmas wrapping paper as well as scrapbooking paper and cardstock.

When I do more, I probably won't do it this way, but being totally new, I didn't exactly know how to begin. I got cardstock and cut it to the right moo card measurements. Then I covered the cardstock, like wrapping a gift, with wrapping paper, just taping it closed on the back, since that would end up being covered up anyway. Then I started layering torn strips of paper over the fronts, just letting it stick off, and then cutting it even after the glue/modge podge dried. I glued on a head - cut from paper and mounted evenly on cardstock, then cut more precisely - by making the piece long enough to overlap the 'body' securely. Under this, I added ribbon arms to some, and just left others without the arms. I have seen them both ways. Then I added little embellishments. Then I traced the whole doll on cardstock, cut it out and glued it on the back to make a smooth, nice looking back. One set I modge-podged over the whole front, and one, I have left without the modge-podge.

Anyway, I am probably leaving something out, but I have to hurry and go to lunch...
