Description:

This is a new member swap and therefore means that all are welcome, both new and old members of the group :-)

I "stole" this idea from a public swap by @Katica I thought it would be a fantastic idea that everyone could join in on, even those of you new to paganism. Everyone should feel comfortable joining this, what YOU have to offer IS valuable.

You will be making decorated mini book of shadows pages for this. Use sturdy card stock like paper and make the pages the size of a regular postcard (approx. 4x6 inches, but there can be slight flexibility) and please only write/decorate on one side in case some people choose to glue the cards into a book. And please sign you swapbot name in one corner of the cards.

In this round you will only have 1 partner, but instead of 2 cards, you will be making 3 cards for your partner. So just 3 cards to send out and 3 cards for you in return.

The idea is to repeat this swap several times if it's a success and you will then hopefully wind up with a postcard sizes book of shadows made for you by your fellow swap-bot witches. Pretty cool huh? :-)

What kind of information should go on the cards? If you are newer than new to paganism, please don't let that stop you, we still want what YOU have to offer. You can put meditations, prayers, chants, spells, ritual instructions, lists of uses for herbs or gems, recipes for pagan holiday foods or recipes for things like herbal teas etc, information about myths or important historical pagan cultures or events, instructions for pagan crafts, personal poems relating to paganism....As you can see, there is a wide variety of information you can choose to put on your cards, and you can decorate them in any manner you choose to, so have fun and be creative with this.

I will write this again for good measure: Please put the information on one side of the card only so that people may choose to put their cards in an album or paste them into a book.

I highly encourage everyone to jump in on this swap. If you are new this is a really easy way to gather more information on paganism from people with more experience. If you are experienced it will be a fun collection to have. Just think how cute that little postcard sized Book of Shadows is gonna be.

I will remind you again to please sign you swapbot name in one corner of the cards. Other than that just have lots and lots of fun with this. I hope many will sign up so we can do this swap again many times :-)

Ohhh, and if you have a special wish regarding if your cards should be oriented vertically or horizontally please write that to the partner sending to you as soon as partners are assigned, otherwise it will be senders choice :-)

NB: The picture is of two of the pages I made for the last round.

This is such a cool idea, I'm okay with any layout!

Any chance of more partners, but less cards for each? I love this idea, but as a newbie to both paganism and collaging, coming up with three unique designs and ideas seems daunting. Still may join anyway :)

@Unmutual I am keeping it to 1 partner to keep the postage down. I know this is cheap postage, but it can still amount to a lot with multiple partners. I know some people that only join swaps that have one partner and won't even consider joining if there is more than one partner. So I guess what I'm trying to say is: you can't please everyone, sorry :-(

@unmutual -- try leafing through one of the Llewellyn Witches' Almanacks for some ideas. Make one a recipe card with your favorite "cakes and ale" recipe, mmm, nom. Even better if you send a sample ha ha. Draw up a simple craft instruction book -- your "page" can be a mini book, ya know.

Check out this page, http://www.azuregreen.net/Parchment-Posters/products/122/ for some inspiration.

Take a picture of your area and journal about the upcoming solstice, how you might like to celebrate it. A lot of us old pagan hacks probably have forgotten what it's like from the eyes of a newcomer. Me, I was raised pagan, so I really don't remember my first experience. It would be neat to get something like that. I always like to read about how other people celebrate the turning of the seasons, especially since in Oklahoma our seasons are Almost Summer, Summer, Still Summer DAMMIT, and Christmas.

Just a few ideas -- it would be cool if you joined it.

oh i love your idea LeftHandedGoth about the sampling, is it even possible to send cakes n cookies in the mail, that would be a sweet swap: the recipe and the sample......oh my goodness. haha

Anybody willing to do a private swap with me? I missed the first round and am interested in doing two further cards if anyone wants to do two extras and do a private swap. If that makes any sense! PM me!
