Description:

I am so excited for the summer, especially since I will never have to go back to high school again!

I want to make a summer field guide swap for all crafty people. For this swap, we will each be making a field guide. Summer is about taking chances, having fun and doing new things.

You will be making a journal about the size of a half piece of paper. You can use a blank notebook or journal and design the cover. However, it is preferred that you make the journal, wether you make them like a real book, or more like a pamphlet. This is a real DIY type project, so the more you can make yourself, the better. Also, if you hand-make your journal, you can use different types (colors, sizes, textures) of paper. A minimum of 30 pages.

The point of making this field guide, is the document the fun things you do this summer, and keep them kind of like a scrapbook. And so that your partner and look back at the book is following summers to get ideas of what to do. There are so many things you can put in this journal. Not only can you put journal entries and pictures that you take, you can also include: recipes, how-toÒ€ℒs, tips, instructions on how to make certain things, inspirational words, and anything that your partner can look back at to keep them occupied during the summer.

This field guide is somewhat like a scrapbook, but mostly like a book of creative boredom busters. But rather than just listing things to do, add your experiences as well. You can glue things into the journal, examples of things you make, collections. There are no limits.

This is an ongoing project that we will make during the summer. Take this book everywhere with you and have fun with it. The deadline to mail it is September 3rd. However, you should use up the two months before it and only send it within the last week in August (if you send it before the 3rd).

No one with a 1 in the last two years can join. No 3Ò€ℒs in the last year. Newbies with at least 5 completed and rated swaps and a well filled out profile can join. You must have at least a 4.9 overall rating. I will not tolerate flakers for this swap, especially because it will be impossible to angel. If you flake, you will never be allowed to join one of my swaps, and I will put your name on any flaker lists. If you are late sending out your package, please let me and your partner know.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Most importantly, have fun making your summer of creativity field guides!

Can I ask about the 30 pages...? Do you mean 30 peices of paper to fold and make into a journal or 30 when it's made? And is it 30 actual pages or 30 sides of pages? Just want to get it clear before making my book. Thanks.

No problem! I mean once the papers are together, each side of the page. The front and back would each count as separate. So if you are folding one paper in half, it would count as four pages total. Numbering each side might help. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for joining!

Thanks, it's sounds like fun.

Is it ok if I have more than 30 pages? Some of the how to's or instructions that I am thinking of may take more than one page. I'm glad to be a part of this swap. It's a great idea!

absolutely. minimum of 30 pages, but you can put as many as you like. :)

hi is there a min of things to do that we should include??

p.s i think i got great partners both to send to and recieve from :)

kawaiicupcakes 07/ 4/2010 #

There's really no minimum of things to include. As long as you can fill 30 pages. Be creative, and feel free to add journal entires of things you do in the summer. There are really no guidelines, just make a creative book filled with creative ideas.

Glad you like your partners! There are only 4 of us in this swap, but small swaps are nice. I hope everyone has fun working on their journals. If you have any questions, let me know.
