Description:

What are COLOUR DECOS? For those who are not yet familiar with them, they are three page mini colour-themed scrapbooks.

If you love DECOS,

If you love scrapbooking, collage, card making and mixed media crafts (fabric, paper, drawing or painting),

Then this is the swap for you!

Example photos on my Flickr.

Requirements:

1) Make 1 DECO to send to one partner.

2) The DECO cover is 5 ½ X 7 inches and decorated in the colour theme of your DECO. You might want to keep the cover relatively simple as it takes a bit of a beating moving around two swapper’s studios. Then cut three 5 X 7 pages and use brads/paper fasteners to attach them to the inside of the back cover (direction, portrait or landscape).

3) Create the first page of the DECO on a 4 ¼ X 6 ¼ inch piece of paper, and attach it to the first 5 X 7 inch page in the DECO. This will be page one of the eye-candy, an example for your partner(s) to follow. On the back of that 5 X 7 inch page make sure you share your name, address, Swap-bot ID, and the name of this swap. You might also request partners to include a photo, favourite quote, or a few words about the colour you have just worked with.

4) Write any directions you might have on the inside of the front cover.

5) The DECO creator places their name, snail-mail address, Swap-bot ID, the name of this swap and the completion date it is to be returned to it's owner on the inside of the back cover. The completion date for this swap is August 15, 2010.

6) This is basically a sender’s choice swap. However, you are required to focus on a colour or a combo of colours that you choose.

7) When you've completed your page send the DECO you have worked on to another deco artist. Contact another member of this swap or a person who works on decos or scrapbooking. Please be sure they have first agreed to work on the deco and meet the completion date.

Note & Goal: We want to get the DECOs back to their creators in 30 days. The creator of the 3rd and final page has done a Random Act of Kindness for the love of art. Please besure to thank them after you have received your deco.

Participant Screening: Must have a fully completed profile (not just a few lines). Must have completed 5 swaps, have a 4.8+ status and no unexplained 1 or 3’s. I will list all flakers.

Ratings: We’d all like to do a swapper’s dance of joy when we open our envies/packages, but remember ratings are based on meeting the swap's requirements. The DECO itself or a DECO page may not be your exact taste or style, but if the swap requirements were basically followed then your partner gets a five and a heart if you feel so inclined. Happy Swapping!

I want a page online that explains a ton about decos just to get the word out about them,

I'm curious, why is the actual entry smaller than a page? I haven't seen that in decos years and then it was sloppiness, but now it seems there's a reason for that. Frames?

But since I'm not participating (little too much strict rules for my taste), i won't interrupt more. Hope you get big and nice swap! :)

Yes, the reason for the actual entry being smaller than the page that the creator has placed in the deco is to keep it neat and provide a frame. it also gives the page decorator a non-connected space to work on which helps keep the deco in good condition and makes the pages more sturdy.

I will have to edit this swap as I do not think Swap-bot has a way to handle two stage swaps. I will PM all participants to please reread the directions. Thanks.
