Description:

Creating inchies is fun for everyone!

This inchie swap is beginner and not-so-beginner friendly, so if you have never made an inchie or if you have made several hundered, please join in on the fun!

In this swap, you will have 2 partners and create them each 4 inchies.

2 partners x 4 inchies = 8 total inchies

Please don't forget to include your swap-bot user name and the name of the swap somewhere in the package so your partner knows who to rate!

Theme:

The theme for this swap is open since it is to help those new to inchies gain more experience and get feedback. Also, since it is an open theme, you don't have to wait for partners to be assigned before you start working on them.

Medium:

The medium for your inchie is up to you: sturdy card stock, grunge board, fabric, chip board, polymer clay, watercolor paper or whatever strikes your fancy. Empty cereal boxes can be used as inchie blanks, too and it is a very environment friendly idea. Not to mention they are very sturdy, so consider backing your inchie with a cereal box blank if it seems flimsy.

What is an inchie?

An inchie is a 1" x 1" piece of mini artwork created by you. The only requirements are the measurements and that it be sturdy. They can be painted, sewn, collaged, needle felted or any combination of techniques. They should be creative. Card stock with a sticker is NOT a quality inchie.

Guidlelines:

  • NO KNOWN FLAKERS: No 1's ever and no 3's within the last 4 months without contacting me to discuss the situation and even then, I might not let you join. Sorry.

  • NEWBIES WELCOME: Provided you contact me to let me know you are serious about joining.

  • QUALITY INCHIES: A sticker on a blank piece of card stock does not count as an inchie. Put effort into your inchie and make some that you would like to receive.

  • AT LEAST: 5 completed snail mail swaps.

  • IT IS: an international swap, so your partner may be overseas, but inchies are low cost to ship.

  • I WILL: be checking profiles to ensure that no flakers join, but if you see someone sign up who is a known flaker or a questionable swapper, please contact me. I would rather ban someone rather than lose any good inchie swappers!

  • IF: someone winds up being flaked on, I will angel them or find another kind soul who will.

  • REMEMBER: we were all new to inchies once, so be kind if your swap partner is new to the craft!

  • PLEASE: contact me if you have any questions. I will be happy to help you in any way that I can.

Happy Creating!

I would be willing to be an Angel if you need one. Smiles Sandra aka:Whiskers

I am really hoping that I don't need any angels. I ran this swap earlier in the year and out of 76 participants I only had one no-send. Thank you so much for offering, though. It is very sweet of you!

Hi :D Im brand new to swap-bot. A friend introduced me to this and I would love to join this swap as my first swap. I still need to make a full profile - its comming up ;) I tried to contact Grimmlynn but for some reason I couldnt. I guess its because Im new? If you need more info about me, Grimmlynn - please send me a note. I would hate to be mistaken for a flaker :)

New or not, you should be able to send me a PM. Simply bring up my profile and click on send message.
This is for everyone- If profiles aren't filled out by the time I assign partners, I will ban. If anyone new to the site needs help filling out profiles or ideas of what to include, check out the profile of others who have been here a while or send me a PM and I will see what I can suggest. Have a great day everyone!

I too am having trouble commenting / contacting you thru your profile since I'm a n00b - can't figure out how to verify. Im new to the site but have traded reliably on other sites and am interested in inchies. Let me know if I can participate. If not, 'sokay too. Maybe I'll just try some on my own!

Okay, to contact me via Swap-bot PM, simply click on my profile @grimmlynn and you can do this by clicking the blue link that says grimmlynn following the @ symbol. When you see my profile you should see a box beside my information that says 'Send Message' and just click that. Then type the message in the box and click send. If you haven't verified your account, you may not be able to send private messages yet. If this doesn't work, please let me know via comment on here.

Also, check out the Frequently Asked Questions to help familiarize yourself with the site.

I've never made inchies before. Do we sign and date them on the back, like with ATCs?

grimmlynn 01/19/2010 #

I try to fit in the month, year, my first name, last initial and my swap-bot name on the back if at all possible. As far as I know there is no 'official' way for the back of them to look.

Hello, I am a newbie and would like to join this swap. I tried to PM you Grimmlynn, but I was unable to. I understand that other people have been having problems with this, and the site has been having problems as a whole. But I am excited to join this swap and make some of my first inchies! :D

And I am indeed serious about joining the swap, and hopefully look forward to sending and receiving cool things!

Wow, I thought I was the only one having difficulty with this site as a newbie, why is this so hard? I think part of the problem is that there is just SO much information on the page and we get lost in it I guess? I hope that nobody has had the issues I've had, I was about to say forget it and give up but I am going to give it one more go at it and hope it works this time around!
