Description:

For this swap, you will crochet a bookmark for each partner. No specific size or pattern! The only guidelines are that it should be vaguely rectangular, reasonably flat, crocheted and bookmark-sized. Chunky yarns probably aren't the best idea, but it's up to you. Knit/macramé bookmarks are ok too, I guesssssss...

Bookmarks are a great way to practice a new stitch design, making up your own pattern, or a using a new fiber. For example, you could try using really thin cotton and a 1mm hook and making a bit of lace, if you never have before or don't have the patience for a larger project.

This shouldn't be your first crochet project (anything you did before you were 10 doesn't count!) but you don't have to be a master.

If you want to comment with favourite colours/other preferences, go ahead, but don't rate unfairly if they aren't followed.

This should fit in a normal envelope so postage should be reasonable :)

Newbies are welcome with a filled-out profile, as is anyone else with no recent 3s or 1s. PM me for exceptions (I make no promises though).

[Oh, and in case you are curious, the pattern for the image can be found here: http://crochetroo.blogspot.com/2006/05/fan-bookmark.html]

Cool! I'm so glad you created this swap. I've been crocheting bookmarks lately and checking out new patterns and was even thinking of creating a swap here for it. So glad to see you started one and I'll be the 2nd person to join!

Hi, I'm thinking of joining, but I was wondering if the ''ornament-with-a-tail" type bookmarks are allowed as well. I don't know what they're called, but basically you have a thicker/larger ornament (can even be stuffed) attached to a ribbon or thread, and only the ribbon is between the pages, the ornament sort of dangles out the top end. This explanation probably confuses everyone, but just google 'crochet bookmark' and you'll get some images. Anyways, I just wanted to know if those are included, or are you really looking for the rectangular ones?

would you consider opening this up to knitted book marks too... I'm very so-so at crochet but I have a bunch of great knittend book mark patterns that are great...

@Saartje yup that's fine! so long as it's crocheted (or knitted i guess!)

@embers oh go on then :)

I have one of these that was a swap gift... I love it... I must join now & see if I can find another pattern to make. (or someone might get my interpretation of one of these.)

I've stopped watching and joined. I love to crochet, and these are perfect to do on the long commute from work.
