Description:

Dunmore Garden, Stirlingshire, Scotland (1761)

As early as the 1500s, pineapples became a rare delicacy in Europe & the New World and were associated with power, wealth, and hospitality. In Britain, the practice of bringing pineapples to the dining table was not just for the aristocracy but extended to the gentry. Likewise, the pineapple's rarity and exotic qualities made it a symbol of hospitality. It was often used as the centerpiece at special holidays, on displays, and incorporated architecturally to decorate front doors, finals on large estate posts/gates, bed posts, tablecloths, and napkins.

Later, a roaring trade in pineapple rental developed, where ambitious but less well-off folk might hire one for a special event, dinner party or even just to jauntily tuck under an arm on a show-off stroll.

Swap: make a holiday pineapple gift for your neighbors, coworker, office party, postal carrier, etc..., family or friends, as a hostess gift, or just a lovely something for you. However, you will only have to take a snap of it for your swap partner. You decide what to craft & how creative you have the time to be. In your email, include a photo or two and a brief chatty note about how you made your pineapple or how you plan to gift your pineapple to someone.

Don't forget, you will be emailing a picture, no physical mailing. However, your creative work is a type 3 for your swapbot credit (smile)

Here's a nice quote to include with your gift if you so wish

"May health and wealth always be your friends,
may good luck and fortune always be by your side, may success and goodwill always be at your beck and call.
Wishing you a very happy Holiday/Christmas/New Year/Hogmanay"
