Description:

This is a fun and easy swap!

Build a playlist on Youtube. That's because YT is pretty much almost everywhere, whereas soundcloud, bandcamp, spotify, etc. isn't... and tbh I'm tired of having to download more apps and make profiles to use something.

Fill the list with at LEAST 10 videos you play in the background. These are things you aren't actively "listening" to, you just work or sleep to them. They can be piano tracks, lo-fi, ASMR, or trip-hop or 80s rock or whatever the heck else, tbh.

Make sure the list is public, not private.

Also note anything you really liked, how you got into this singer or that artist, a fun memory associated with a video, a song that affected you, whatever you'd like. It's very easy for our brains to come up with things we dislike about ____ but it's hard to make ourselves look for the fun. Focus on what you enjoy about something! Do you like the visual way clay or soap cracks apart? Are you ever impressed that someone took hours to structure and film a fun basic language session? Do you love the rhythmic bass or are you more of a saxophone person?

POST THE LINK TO THE LIST IN THE COMMENTS!

This way, we don't get limited to one list, one partner, like in email. Everyone can check out everyone else's playlists. <3

If your partner posted a playlist AND a note about what they really liked, etc. as described above, please rate them a 5.

This isn't a list made for the swap, but I generally listen to anything from the channel to sleep or regulate when there's just Too Much going on.

ASMR Historian has a very even voice that is low without being whispery. No weird AI videos, which I despise for both aesthetic and mostly environmental reasons. A stupid animated video isn't worth the cost of thousands of gallons of water to cool some servers.

Typically when I need something playing in the background I listen to live "radios" on YouTube! I've added a few of my favorites to the playlist, including some from the LoFi Girl YouTube channel. I like the fact that it's live and that I don't have to click on to new videos, change channels, etc. I also threw in some Sam Smith because I love him! His voice is relaxing and I know his music well so it's not distracting to me when I'm working on something. Julia

Hi guys!

Here's the playlist I made to summarise the kind of videos I listen to (or don't listen to, lol) in the background.

They range from motivational talks and spiritual lectures, to ASMR sounds of nature or people eating. Occasionally I'd also listen to horror and true crime stories, as well as reddit videos. Almost every night, I would sleep to Mr. Ballen's videos. I don't know what is it about his voice and the way that he tells his stories that calms me.

Would love to know what you think of these videos!

Cheers, Edora

Hey, y'all!

I tried to add a video from one of a handful of sources. I typically log out of google so they show something on my youtube main screen, whereas if I'm logged in, they won't 'suggest' anything without my watch history logged. ... but... they will... if ... I'm not logged in?? k.

Some are DnD horror stories similar to /reddit AITA. Some are ASMR of various types. If my brain is too busy, keyboards, rain, fire crackling, or something else gives it some kind of low-engagement stimulation. Lo-fi of various types is also great, like Lo-fi Girl or related channels. Synthwave mixes are also fantastic depending on mood, usually cleaning or something where I need to feel more energetic.

Ediya is so pretty. I'm not even really into the 'fluffy tarot reader' thing but the aesthetics of her cards are gorgeous. Casts from the Met, Harvard Art, or other channels are also engaging, low-focus, and visually intriguing when I'm trying to come up with something creative.

Watercolor by Shibasaki is one of my favourite channels. He deals with all levels of painting and traditional art in an easily explained way. The modern-day Bob Ross.
