Description:

I've decided to start another swap for all you spinners out there. This one is for hand dyed roving. Here are the rules:

  • You will have one (1) swap partner that you will send roving roving to.

  • You will send at least 2 ounces of roving.

  • The roving can be handyed by you or you can use roving that has been hand dyed by someone else.

  • To keep it simple, the roving will be wool in either Corriedale, Merino or BFL (superwash is OK).

  • The last rule is that the roving must be dyed in colors that are opposites.

What I mean by this is that I want to get people out of their comfort zone. Either in your profile or in the comments for this swap, you will provide 2-3 colors that are your "comfort colors". For instance, my comfort colors are hunter green, tan and teal. Your swap partner will send you a roving that is dyed in colors that are the total opposite of your comfort colors. So my swap partner might send me roving dyed in burgundy, sky blue and rust orange. It may help when choosing the "opposite" colors if you look at the color on a color wheel then find it's compliment. You don't have to do an exact opposite but the main thing is that you are sending your partner colors that are out of their comfort zone.

I know I wrote a lot but I hope I didn't confuse any one. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you think I need to make anything a bit clearer.

Do the dyes have to be professional-grade or can you use food-grade (ie, kool aid, wiltons, etc.)?

sure I'm in sounds interesting. My comfort colors are blues, pinks and reds (dark reds like maroon) I love bright jewel tone colors.

No, the dyes do not have to be professional. I, myself love to dye with Wiltons. That's why I limited the roving to the most easily accesible wool because you can dye it with household products.

Again, my comfort colors are listed in the description for this swap.
