Description:

This swap will be one of a series, intended to help all of us learn some new skills or hone some old ones. Each month will be a theme:

  • January - Motifs (designs in knits and purls)
  • February - Cables
  • March - Lace
  • April - Slipped stitch
  • May - Pick up & knit
  • June - Entrelac
  • July - Increase & Decrease
  • August - Tawashi
  • September - Don't be square!
  • October - Illusion
  • November - Bobble
  • Other months TBA!

You will knit one dishcloth to send to one partner. It will be based on the month's theme - this month is TAWASHI. You should use kitchen cotton to knit a usable dishcloth at least 5x5 inches or larger using a pattern that makes a cloth/scrubbie that is in the shape of something. Examples include:

Fishy tawashi

Ball band

More scrubbies

Feel free to use the above patterns or find other free ones at Knitting Pattern Central or on Ravelry.

You must be a member of the Knitters R Us Group to participate. A rating of 4.85 or better is required. Newbies are welcome, IF you PM me first AND have a completed profile. I will angel this swap if someone flakes. Washcloths should be fun, not stressful. This is an international swap, as postage should be small.

I made a scrubbie tonight using the third pattern listed and it came out to be approximately 3 inches.

wow those look really cool! I don't have enough time for the swap right now but I'm bookmarking the patterns, maybe one of the later swaps...

ok i made that 3rd scrubbie last night and mine came out to just under 3", but i made another and completley doubled the pattern and it came out just over 5"... instead of co 18 i did 36 and instead of doing 20 rows i did 40.... i have photos of them on my photo blog, there is a link on my profile, i don't know if they are what i'm going to send as the swap though, i want to try a few more patterns...
