Description:

It's been a long four months in Egypt -- we've met a variety of deities, visited cities and festivals, and shielded ourselves from the oppressive sun (you guys brought sunblock, right? I totally did). Now seems like as good of time as any to take a picture and send it home to a loved one, a frenemy you want to make jealous, your future self, etc. But wait! We're in Ancient Egypt. Guess you won't be using a camera! It's your fault for not planning, but I forgive you. And yes, you can also borrow my sunblock.

For this swap, we will be switching it up and making one postcard for one partner instead of an ATC (thanks to @feverfawn for blazing the trail with the handmade postcard swap). It will be free theme on the subject of Ancient Egypt. It need not feature a deity, but please do a bit more than just the outline of pyramids -- iconography, a pharaoh, a god or goddess, hieroglyphics, a scene from daily life, Ancient Egyptian art, pretty much anything! Just make something you'd like to receive!

In the message section, please write a message roleplaying as a time traveler who is visiting Ancient Egypt. You may address your message to anyone you'd like. Tell them about an experience (or some experiences) you've had in your travels so far. Feel free to be creative and make something up that isn't related to previous swaps!

Rules (adapted from feverfawn's swap)

  • 1 postcard for 1 partner

  • Sender's choice on theme as long as it relates to Ancient Egypt

  • Message section on the back should include a short note roleplaying as a time traveler, writing to a person of their choice

  • Use a sturdy background of at least 4" x 6" as the base for your creation. I use thick kraft blanks for mine. You may also reuse an old postcard as long as it is not too flimsy and is clean, repurpose other cardboard, etc. Be aware that oversized postcards require a regular first class forever stamp if sent naked.

  • Card may be any medium you like -- collage, hand drawn/hand-painted, a combination of both, or any other method you like. Stickers and other embellishments acceptable as long as they are flat. Please take your time and make something you'd like to receive!

  • Make sure all elements are secured to the card and will survive mailing. I like to use a couple hefty layers of Mod Podge.

  • Card will be written on for this swap by default, but may be sent naked or in an envelope. If naked -- please include the swap name and your username in the message section for easy rating. Address correctly and add appropriate postage. If in envie -- swap name and username can be in message section, or separate in the envelope. The postcard should still be addressed as though it were sent naked. Postage on the card itself is nice, but optional.

  • Please send on time and rate appropriately and fairly -- 5 if you received it, heart if you love it. Please contact both me and your partner if you will be late for any reason. I mean it! And, of course, contact me before rating a 1 so I can attempt to mediate the issue.

I will angel once there has been adequate communication and your partner has been rated appropriately. This has never been a problem within the group, and I hope it remains that way! You guys make my life easy!

Please message me directly with any questions. Have fun and happy swapping!
