Hey everyone!

I don't at all claim to have made up this idea--I actually came across it via another swap, but I can't seem to find it and therefore can't credit the host... comment if you know, please!

Credit also to @ensigncelery for inspiring me that much more with an example!

But the idea is to make a grid collage on a postcard for one partner. What is a grid collage, you ask? It's like any other collage in terms of mixed media/mishmash of things that look cool next to each other, but it's laid out in a grid!

Specifically, you'll be making little 1x1" squares of whatever you want (photos, paper, magazine cutouts, etc) and slappin' em all together in a neat grid. If you use a standard postcard (which I recommend), you'll need 24 squares to cover a postcard (because 4" tall and 6" wide... boy I hope I didn't do that math wrong).

Go with whatever theme you want--just try to make it look nice. It can be 24 tiny chaotic photos or 24 tiny solid-color squares of paper or anywhere in between.

The postcard should be sent written on and stamped unless your partner wants otherwise (please comment below if you want it sent in an envelope).

Please also take care to seal this one somehow, whether it's packing tape or mod podge or whatever floats your boat. You don't want to lose pieces of your hard work in transit.

Have fun experimenting and swapping!

I'm so flattered! πŸ’œ I'm happy you liked my postcard enough to make it into a swap idea~

Oh! And the swap that originally gave me the idea to make the postcard I sent you was "Index card grid collages" posted by beckra, who credited Keri Smith's "100 Ideas" list πŸ’œ

If only there is a sample photo, I love to see the layout/arrangement. That will be nice.πŸ˜ƒ

@papercraft70 is this helpful for a sample photo?

@papercraft70 The examples I know of didn't have borders around the tiles--they were all right next to each other. But I can't find a good photo online! I'm sorry. :(

Oh, gosh. It's not a terribly good picture, but here's one of the Index Cards I did for beckra's swap! Obviously the postcard is going to be much bigger β™₯

Thanks Celery!! I should've just asked you, huh? I didn't even know you could post photos in the comments on SB... lol.

Thanks also to @ultracinematik for sending me more examples! I really hope this works without blowing up:

@softawoo I also see some example in Pinterest. It can be a picture cut in squares or totally different picture but importantly it must be paste in grid form, correct me if I am wrong.

@papercraft70 I would say that's accurate! :)

Since my partner is overseas, I am mailing my PC inside an envelope for extra protection
