QNT SCRAPPY HSTS #9

6-27-22 to 7-22-22

--white on one side and colored print on the other

--in 2022 we are increasing the number of HSTS sent to each partner

--10 total HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES

--2 partners to receive 5 different HSTS each

--mailed size 4 ½” X 4 ½” each HST

We will be making our HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES with one side white and the other side any print senders care to make them.

This swap will be a good way to use up some scraps of fabric from our stash.

A. Pick 10 different 5-inch by 5-inch print charms from your stash (or cut some if you wish)

B. Gather (cut) 10 white or tone-on-tone white charms, also 5-inch by 5-inch

C. Follow instructions below for making HSTS…they are so easy; you will love them!

D. In this swap you will end up with 10 different HSTS for yourself and 10 to send to your partners. Each partner gets 5 for a total of 10 HSTS mailed.

Making Half-Square Triangles:

take 2 fabric charms of equal size (example: 5-inches by 5-inches)

we are using one white and one print charm for this swap series

on wrong side of the white charm draw a pencil diagonal line from upper left corner to lower right corner

place the 2 charms in a stack right side together

stitch one-quarter inch seam on either side of the drawn line

cut on drawn line

press open both HSTS (press to the dark side)

square them up (example: to 4 ½” X 4 ½”) (google this if you need more help, because a picture of squaring up is much easier to understand – to me that is)

follow these instructions for all 10 HSTS, which will yield 20 HSTS, 6 different HSTS for you and 6 to mail to partners.

Have fun, do neat work, and swap-on!
