STARTING A NEW CHAIN CARD

A chain card is a traveling postcard that collects stamps from different people, and has no written messages. Some chain cards have different themes, while others do not.

Choose any postcard that is 4"x6" or smaller. Decide what kinds of stamps you would like on your chain card (animals, flags, people, no theme, etc). Attach 2 stamps from your country (used or mint, off paper) to the blank side of the postcard that go with the theme you've chosen. Put a sticky note on the postcard with a note explaining what your card's theme is, and your mailing address / swap-bot moniker so that it can be returned to you when full.

PASSING ON YOUR CARD

Once you either have received someone else's chain card or have set up your own, mail it to your assigned partner in an envelope.

Open the envelope that you have received and check to see what the card's theme is. Select 2 nice quality stamps from your country and attach them to the blank side of the postcard with the other stamps. If someone from your country has already received the card, be sure to add stamps that have not already been featured.

If you end up filling the last available space on a card, stick it in an envelope and mail it home to its owner (they should have attached their mailing address and swap-bot moniker with a sticky note).

ABOUT THE SWAP

You may send your partners up to 3 chain cards each, for a total of 6 cards. Please do not start a new card if you have 6 on hand to send already.

You may receive cards with any type of theme that the sender has chosen, so be sure you have a nice variety of stamps on hand before joining.

Include a short note with your swap-bot name and the name of the swap so that your partner can rate you promptly. Be sure to communicate if necessary, and have fun swapping!
