Description:

Before the pandemic broke out I hosted a similar kind of swap. But with the pandemic and in some countries a traveling-ban, most of us have been stuck at home. With the right precautions, discovering those local gems can be just as enjoyable those vacations far far away.

For this swap we will keep a journal of our local adventures. Visit two places near your hometown or your hometown itself together with another town close to home and document what you did on that trip. You can write, take pictures or make short videos. Be creative. You get to discover some fun things close at home and your swap-partners get the feeling we are having a exotic vacation from behind the screen. So everybody wins here.

Some ideas for your trip/journal:

• parks

• monuments

• historical sites

• local culture

• forests

• local history/myths/legends/ stories. No creepy stories please.

• wildlife, no scary insects or spiders though, as most people don’t like it.

• …

I encourage you to spend as little money as possible. It’s all about the experience. With the pandemic it is advised to choose less crowded areas and avoid the big cities. Nature in Fall or Winter can be a lot of fun if you dress warmly.

When I’ll assign partners I’ll send everyone an e-mail with some safety tips and tips on how to spend less money.

The journal

You can write the journal in an e-mail, blogpost or a separate document. You can also choose to write it in a physical journal and then take pictures, but make sure you’ll make it readable please. If you want to test if it’s readable just make someone else read it out loud. If they can’t read it, you will hear it. :p Try to make it a fun long adventure to read. But don’t make it longer than 10 A4 pages(pictures and videos excluded.) It needs to stay realistic to rate in a timely manner.

Add a map/multiple maps of the area. Make sure it’s good image quality. As a fun idea, you can mark the places on the map where you’ve been while on this trip.

Other swap requirements?

You must have a minimum of a 4.98 rating . You must have done a minimum of 30 swaps, and have received a positive rating from them. So this means no newbies or unrated swappers. No recent or unexplained 1s or 3s. I will check profiles thoroughly. I will angel, but I'm hoping it won't come to that. No one likes flakers, so don’t bother joining if you are. :p

Even though to many this is just an e-mail swap, rating is a requirement. We will all put a lot of time and energy in this swap, so it’s a sign of respect to your swap partners to rate. If you have questions, you can always pm me or leave a comment below. ^_^ Since it’s not profile based, you can already start, before the swap partners are assigned. And very important: have fun!
