OMAE: Jen Stark Inspired Collaborative Mural 1

This is another kid's art project inspired swap. Here's the lesson plan where I got the idea. This will be a 2 part swap. First part (this swap) will be in color; second part (next swap) will be in black & white. For both swaps we will have 3 partners (hopefully enough join to make that possible).

Jen Stark is a Los Angeles based artist known for her psychedelic, brightly colored public murals, many of which feature layers of drip-like forms. Check it out: here. For this swap we will be making our own brightly colored drip forms out of paper.

Start with a piece of heavier weight paper like cardstock or watercolor/bristol. We're aiming for a size between 5" x 7" and 6" x 9" - so we can easily mail flat in a 6x9 envelope and also so we have end pieces that can more reasonably fit in our spaces (I've already got a spot I think will work 😁). Then draw the outlines of your drip in pencil or marker.

Literally go with the flow. You can go portrait or landscape oriented on your paper. Please include at least 5 "rows" in your drip form.

Once it's drawn, color it in! You can go rainbow, random, 2 colors, a gradient of 1 color - anything but black and white (that's going to be the next swap). You can use watercolors, inks, acrylic paints. Finally, when the drip form is colored in, cut it out. You'll do this 2 more times so you will end up with 3 colorful drip formations - 1 for each of your 3 partners.
