Description:

As we grow as crafters, our interests change and our willingness to try something new becomes a little easier. I was inspired by Shana at Shanouki Art on YouTube to try some altered playing cards. I think you will find her videos easy to watch and very informative. I will primarily be using her videos for inspiration, but feel free to choose your own path.

The requirements for altering are simple. You must use playing cards. Decorating the back of card is not required. I will provide one element that needs to be included on the card. This is not just stickers and a go. This altering requires different mixed mediums like gesso, ModgePodge or gel mediums, watercolors, paints, ephemera, textures, etc. My personal mixed medium stash is far from huge, but I have the basics which are not costly. I am far from Shana’s ease in creating, but am willing to try because it looks like so much fun.

For the first swap, you can use this video for inspiration found Here Remember, video is for inspiration...you don’t need to follow her exact process.

First swap - playing card with a butterfly. πŸ¦‹

I hope you will join me with this new obsession I have. Let’s have some fun with trying new methods to create special works of playing card art. As always, I appreciate your joining my swaps! πŸ¦‹

Her videos are awesome. She’s quick at at such ease. I just tried my first one. Didn’t feel comfortable yet with the watercolors, but I love smooshing with distress oxides.
