Description:

I discovered this library celebration through @USAFwife s R&W Teen Read Week Swap and thought it would be nice to host a swap for TeenTober.

TeenTober was essentially created to extend Teen Read Week into a month-long celebration of sorts. It celebrates teens and promotes services in and out of the library.

Though we aren't teens here, I think a lot of us enjoy YA and Middle-Grade books, right? I know I certainly do!

For this swap, you'll have four partners and you'll be sending them an email. Please use the BCC function when emailing.

In the email, write to you partner answering five or more of the prompts below:

  • what was your favourite book as a teenager? how did you come to find/read it, ie. from a friend, the library, a bookshop, etc?

  • does your local library host any events or have a book club specifically for teens/young adults? and/or what services does your library offer to teens?

  • recommend three of your favourite ya/middle-grade books (or series) to your partner. why are they your favourite?

  • do you think the libraries could have done more to engage with teens when you were growing up?

  • do you think libraries could do more to provide services for teens?

  • what do you love about ya/middle-grade books? do you think there are any stigmas surrounding this category?

  • what were your reading habits like as a teen?

  • do you think you read more now or more when you were a teenager?

  • did you prefer to borrow books or buy books (ebook, audio or physical copy) when you were a teen?

  • did you have a favourite genre as a teen and has that changed?

  • have you ever re-read any books or series since reading them as a teen?

  • what books did you have to read at school as a teen?

(lots of prompts/questions, but you don't have to answer them all!)

I hope you have fun swapping! If you have any questions, let me know.

Stay lovely xx
