R&W: Audio book appreciation month

June is Audio Book Appreciation Month! Let's listen to some audiobooks, and talk about them. :)

For now, this is only an email based swap, but if anyone at all is interested in a snail mail version of this swap, please PM me soon and I'm happy to set up a snail mail version. :)

During the month of June, listen to at least one audiobook. Any audiobook you wish - from the library, at home, a download, whatever. If you have never listened to audiobooks before, this might be a great time to try it out! If you need ideas of where to look or where to start, just PM me and I'm MORE than happy to offer suggestions and ideas. (You all probably know I'm a bit audiobook obsessed and devour more of them than anything else. It's an addiction, but I'm not looking to cure it!)

After you listen to at least one audiobook - and please really try to complete it - send an EMAIL to each of your 3 partners, using BCC if you send the same message to all, and tell them:

The title and author of the audiobook you chose

The narrator's name, if you can find it

A brief summary of the book - can be from the publisher or your own, your choice, just no spoilers

What you liked about the book, the narrator

then talk about your audiobook experience. Are you a regular listener? Or was this your first time? What did you think? Do you think you'll try others, or are you just not interested at all?

If you've tried audios in the past and didn't care for them, please consider trying again. I started with listening to books I'd already read and really enjoyed, and it was a fun experience. And in the last 10 or so years, I have to say the production value has gone way, way up. It's really amazing how well some are done now. And, we listen to audiobooks in the car as a family, at meal times, sometimes at bed time. My kids have been assigned books for school, and we will listen to the audio while they follow along and they've said it really helps them to get into the book and then write the assignment.
