Q8: What Is YOUR Favorite Era in History?

Discussion

I really like the Edwardian era, they've still got that lovely silhouette but it's less flouncy and frilly than Victorian and little more sensible.

I like the Egyptian era...y'know like the building of the temples, rameses, tutankhamun, etc. I think it's pretty neat, especially the mummies.

PerArduaAdAlta 04/ 5/2020 #

Ooooooo Probably Atlantis You know, minus the great sinking part...

I Love the history on the Ancient period 3600 BC - 500 AD. Just fascinated by it, how people lived their lives then.

CookieMomster78 04/ 5/2020 #

The Renaissance! This was the era when people became self-aware and life appears to get most interesting - they wrote music and great plays, made beautiful paintings, built astounding architecture, had numerous astrological and medical discoveries, and created sculptures for the bourgeois class! I can just imagine hanging out with great talents such as William Shakespeare or Gutenberg...but the true highlight of my days would be combining intellectual and physical excellence to transcend the mortal flesh. Sounds like fun!

I would say the days of Pioneers. I enjoy watching or reading about the history and people who lived then. It was a tough time and very rough life and many didn't live long but I still find it interesting. My own mother rode in a covered wagon as a child and if I could live one day in that time of history, I think it would be interesting. Although, I don't think I'd like wearing those long sleeve dresses and not getting baths very often, that would be the worse.

I love the Renaissance too! For the art, history, and all of the above that CookieMonster78 said :)

AZmom875 04/ 6/2020 #

I hate to admit, but I really liked the 50s, the clothes, the hair, the music, the cars.

Pikapika 04/ 6/2020 #

I would have to say Ancient Greece.

TourLady 04/ 6/2020 #

I'm a HUGE fan of the Elizabethan, Regency and Edwardian time periods. The clothing, grace, and social developments of each of those eras is fascinating.

Cindymt 04/ 6/2020 #

Like many people said, I enjoy the Renaissance. This is because the clothes were nice and people just lived their lives so differently.

KarenMarie322 04/ 6/2020 #

I love the 80's! Clothes, music, way of life was more simple, toys and all. I'm an 80's girl 1983!๐Ÿ˜ป

The roaring 20's, in Paris! All the great writers that came out of that time. Fitzgerald, TS Elliot, Scott, Stein, etc. Not to mention the artists, such as Picasso. So many amazing minds, mingling and bouncing ideas off of each other. Prohibition, flappers, the big band music and Jazz, I think it would have been an amazing time in Paris!

5th and 6th Century BC Greece. Greece is the cradle of democracy. So what was happening in those ancient times that led this people to invent the democratic system of government. I would love to be able to see it all first hand.

euniceq 04/ 7/2020 #

Ancient Greece. It was the time of great philosophers, like Plato and Socrates, and I'm a Hellenist so it's natural for me to be interested in that time period. A prosperous civilization with advancement and new knowledge gained in multiple different fields... what's not to love?

megan1230 04/ 7/2020 #

My favorite era is the Elizabethan era. Even though I know they only took baths like once a year so it was probably a really smelly place, I still like the idea of all the clothes they wore and the poetry and art that came out of the era. It seems romantic even though I know I wouldn't want to visit.

WhimsicalWildflower 04/ 7/2020 #

There are so many eras in history that I love. To choose one I would say the 50s-60s. This time period was chock full of significant historical events. I admire the clothing, decor, hairstyles, music, and simplicity of this span of time. I also like how optimistic, hopeful, and idealistic this time period seems to be.

DreamCloud 04/ 7/2020 #

I have always been fascinated by the ancient people of the British Isles. I would love to know why they built Stonehenge.

smuchisme 04/ 7/2020 #

You may think Iโ€™m a little strange, but I enjoy the eras of difficulties. The Great Depression, the Irish Potato Famine, the American Civil War ... I love to read mankindโ€™s triumphs over tragedy. I always cheer for the underdogs. As one of Jehovahโ€™s Witnesses, I am drawn to the Holocaust ... not because of the suffering, that breaks my heart, but because of the liberation of those that endured and the beautifully full lives they went on to lead despite what they had been through.

NRGordon 04/ 7/2020 #

I would enjoy the 'Age of Reason' โ€“ also known as the 'Age of Discovery'. This was roughly the 1700s, when science and reason began to displaced religious mumbo-jumbo, like the Earth being the center of the universe. There were advancements in the arts and philosophy. The concepts of Constitutional Government; Separation of Church and State, and religious tolerance were born. It would have been a very interesting time to live.

Fabriqueen 04/ 7/2020 #

I would enjoy witnessing first hand the time when Christ walked the earth and after His ascension as the disciples continued to spread the gospel.

Autist 04/ 7/2020 #

I would have to say my culture before colonization. I think I would also have liked Scotland before Viking invasion. Fictionally I think Steampunk would be fantastic.
