Description:

We all have yarn, needles, stitchmarkers, bags etc etc that we have either bought and changed our mind about or received in swaps but never got around to using. This swap is to give away some of those items and receive others in return.

You will have one partner and send them 5 small items or 2-3 big ones. A small item = 50g yarn or a nice crochet hook. A large item is 100g yarn or a knitting bag. Have a look at their profile and comments below to see whether they have any specific likes or dislikes. However, please remember that because this is a 'no spend' swap your partner will be sending items from their stash rather than buying for you, so you may get a mixed parcel.

To take part you need a rating of 4.7 or higher and must have at least two ratings. Sorry newbies - not this time.

Welcome to this swap! Just to get the comments started I never use dpn's (double pointed needles) and have enough acrylic and novelty yarn. I would welcome most other items though! More info in my profile.

I really dislike metal needles. Other than that, have at! I love getting surprises.

Sounds like fun! No knitting supplies for me please - I am exclusively a crocheter (both yarn and thread, but no fuzzy or eyelash yarns, and no thread thinner than #20 - thanks!)

Hi I have not been swapping on here for ages although I have done Blogger secret pals. My rating is ok so I hope I am allowed to join in here as I was banned from one swap because of the long gap. This sounds like such a good idea. I'm afraid I don't like fancy yarns or acrylics either. I don't tend to use anything thicker than aran and although I have lots of needles I would never mind more.

I am up for anything. Sounds like a fun swap.

stoofyknits 01/23/2009 #

I am easy to please but i am strictly a knitter. I also do not care for yellows but you can send neutrals and reds i would love to make something in green too.

I am going to be away for the next week (I'm the swap host). If anyone has any questions I'll answer them after the 4th.

Sounds fun. Ok I am allergic to mohair! PLease do not send me any of that. Also have not a huge love of 'dead muppet' (love that term aka: feathers and fluffy) unless I could use it in a toy - beard etc. Have done 1 sock. Hope this helps :P

elizamac117 02/ 3/2009 #

Sounds like fun! I am a knitter who prefers natural fibers and loves all colors save for yellow- looking forward to this ;-)

Valerie 02/ 3/2009 #

I'm like a lot of you - I prefer natural to 'dead muppet.' (although I am allergic to mohair). I'm a knitter but have been known to take a walk on the dark side of crochet. And the more colour, the better!

This sounds like a fun swap. I am not much of a knitter (it is not something I enjoy to do), but I crochet a lot. I am allergic to wool and most animal hair yarns (the only one I have found I can handle is Alpaca, but it can be difficult to find.) I prefer natural fiber yarns (cotton, bamboo, soy-silk, etc) to synthetic as they are easier on my hands, but I would love anything sent. And I tend not to work with anything "lighter" than a worsted weight. I like all colours. Hopefully that gives some ideas. ;)

I love to knit using circulars, double points and short wood needles. I strongly dislike long needles, esp. metal ones. I can crochet, and have been secretly longing for a wooden crochet hook. I love to try just about any yarn, thin or thick. The only materials I can't use would be angora or mohair, too itchy for me.....

Quick Question...I signed up but then it says that partners are not assigned. So how do we know who to send to and who will send to us??? Did I miss some fine print???

Jeckabee 02/ 5/2009 #

This Swap sounds GREAT! I'm a knitter and Spinner and Felter!!! I haven't crocheted and don't know how so forget that stuff! I have a VERY STRONG DISLIKE of NOVELTY yarn and acrylic yarns, furry, glittery, ribbon esq...all those...

I love the staples, Wool & Cotton! I love Bamboo needles and LOVE Clover anything! I am need of something to carry projects in, preferable something small to put into a bag...I can live with almost any color....and love little accessories.

Lixie 02/ 7/2009 #

Great that so many have signed up! Partners will become visible once the sign up deadline has passed. You'll receive an email letting you know when yours has been assigned.

I'd love to join but..............so many people have put so many likes & dislikes that i am nervous. I think it would then become a spending swap after all. Hmm,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe not so bad..............lol!

I only knit, never crochet, and almost always in wool or woolmixes (like bamboo or cotton). Never ever acrylic or other non-natural yarns. Think sock yarn and youร‚ยดre right, all and every happy colour welcome! Since most of my knittingprojexts are small socks and mittens for my 4-year-old son, his cousins and other kids at preschool there is no need for big items. If you have like 30 - 40 g leftover from a ball itร‚ยดll do just fine. If the paper around it is lost Iร‚ยดd be happy if you wrote the name and brand on a piece of paper. If I accidently fall in love with the yarn Iร‚ยดll probably want to shop for more of it :). Please do not feel that you have to send superexpensive stuff, Iร‚ยดm happy with leftovers and am very easy to please.

I have plenty of needles so I donร‚ยดt think I need more, just very large sizes maybe. This will be such a fun swap!

same for me folks- no dead muppet. I have some in my stash & will keep my dirty secret just where it is and not send it to my partner unless that person really wants it! I don't like cotton much, prefer natural yarn or wool/acrylic mixes.

kueali 02/ 8/2009 #

Oh and no crochet hooks please! I have loads more than I could ever use!

Adorkable 02/ 8/2009 #

Hello!! I am an experienced crocheter and a brand new knitter! I have barely any knitting stuff. Have lots of crochet hooks already. I love yarn (of course!), especially natural fibers, hand spun, or hand dyed. Please nothing itchy! I love all colors, but nothing neon. Thanks!!!

Adorkable 02/ 8/2009 #

oh, if acrylic is mixed with a natural fiber, I'm cool with that, but not a fan of acrylics otherwise.

seygirl 02/ 9/2009 #
