Description:

I don't know if this has been done before, but I haven't seen it. This may seem like a silly swap. But I read about a new technique in the Jan/Feb 09 issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors. It involves using pretty printed napkins. I know there are probably a lot of uses for these beautiful napkins, but this technique caught my eye. However, most designer napkin pkgs come with 10 or 12 or 20 napkins in them. You probably only need a few from each pkg to do what you want with them.

So for this swap, you will swap designer napkins. There are tons of really cute and colorful napkins out there, and they are fairly inexpensive. I found 5 or 6 without even trying, and I haven't even gone to the Party Store yet, which should have hundreds of different kinds. So you will send each of your partners 5 different napkin designs. Try to find a wide variety. Hopefully we will end up with a nice assortment of beautiful napkins that can be used in our artistic endeavors.

I will allow newbies as this should be an easy swap, and you have to start somewhere. Everyone else should have a rating of 4.8 or higher. If you have anything questionable on your profile please send me a message so we can discuss it. I can angel if I need to, but I shouldn't have to. Please be respectful of your swap partners and send your swap out in time. As always, be sure to put the swap name and your user name on your swap.

Happy Swapping Everyone!

Great swap - I'm putting it on my watchlist to think about... If you ever do one where whole packages are sent I will definately join as I do alot of entertaining.

bleh 01/11/2009 #

Are we talking about paper napkins?

DebP 01/12/2009 #

Yes paper napkins.

RACHEL 01/12/2009 #

i loveeee to get napkins wite witches' gnomes' fairy' //i dont like very much napkins with flowers' animals and so//thanks

What was the idea for the napkins? I have used them to decoupage baskets and jars, but what else? I have added this to my watch list for now, but am definately interested.

Hi I need a little clarification. Are we swapping full packages of napkins?

loki21202 01/12/2009 #

I saw the same article in Cloth Paper Scissors.. this should help mix up what I have and nudge me to try out the technique. My understanding is that we would send 5 different (individual) paper napkins to our 5 partners -- needing a total of 5 different designs and 25 napkins to complete the swap.

ohhh i have been waiting for something like this for ages :) im addicted to napkins.. i have a huge collection as i cover just about anything with them...

one thing though.. i noticed that rachel seems to be very specific in what she wants (that would of course require buying full packets again) so is it just good quality, 5 diff designs or do we have to take the wishlists into consideration??

grandmaroro 01/12/2009 #

Rachel - "witches' gnomes' fairy' " would be a deffinite problem for me. I have probably a dozen different napkins with none of the above on them. I live in a small town and have not seen a napkin with your design requests on them. DebP - should I pass up this swap because of such specifics? Joan

DebP 01/12/2009 #

RACHEL: I did not intend to have people list what they want. It is too hard to find specific things, plus you would have to buy a whole pkg when maybe only one person wants it. Of course, if you have that specific design, by all means send it on.

redsockz: We are to send 5 different napkins (not pkgs) to each of our 5 partners. Each napkin pkg typicall has between 10 and 20 napkins, so that way we can keep some and still have plenty to send off to everyone.

grandmaroro: please do not pass up the swap. I want everyone to send what they might have already, or be able to easily find.

Hope that clears it all up.

grandmaroro 01/15/2009 #

Thanks DebP - You cleared it all up for me. I'm looking forward to this. Joan

At last!! I have a storage box FULL of paper napkins. I usually only need one or two at a time but have to buy an entire packet. I was using them for decoupage under glass. It is going to be great to get "new" ones in exchange for designs I have already used. (I won't send used napkins if there is any confusion, just the designs I have used before)

I am really looking forward to seeing what kinds of napkins we get. I have been playing with some of mine with matt medium, but a whole pkg is usually not needed.

Thank you for making this available to 'newbies.' I recently found the site, but so many of the swaps require ratings or 10 prior swaps that it is hard to get started. I get beautiful napkins (some as large as hostess towels) at TJMaxx, Homegoods, and Tuesday Morning for not a lot of money, and am delighted to have found a way to share these!

grandmaroro 01/23/2009 #

Mine were mailed yesterday - I just forgot to post. Hope you all enjoy. Joan

mmilesesq 01/23/2009 #

Just sent mine off in the mailbox - Deb, thanks for coordinating this. I'm looking forward to five envelopes coming my way...

i misread the directions in my enthusiasm so my swap partners will be getting 5 each of 5 designs for a total of 25 napkins to each partner, plus the random extras I included. Luckily (?) this barely dented my supply, lol.
