Description:

Have you ever seen one of those calendars that lists all the "Days" such as Earmuff Day, Peanut Butter Lover's Day, Middle Name Pride Day, and so on?

This year, we're going to make zines each month to help each other celebrate the wacky holidays that may be celebrated, or at least noted, for the month. You can find a list of these holidays here.

The zines will be made up of:

Cover Page Like a normal cover page with the title of the zine on it and whatever you like for image and/or text.

6 inside pages Each page will represent one of the wacky holidays for the month. If you want, ONE page may be dedicated to a "month" holiday, which are listed at the top of each month's list. For example, one of the ones for March is National Frozen Food Month - fun! On each page, include the name of the holiday and the specific date. Then decorate the page accordingly.

Back Cover This is where you take credit - include your name, SwapBot user name, and any further contact information you would like, or a final message, an interesting or wacky quote, an image, or whatever. You MUST include name and SwapBot username. The rest is up to you.

We're going to send to 5 partners, because once you make the zine you just make photocopies for each additional one, and I'm keeping it in the US for postage reasons. At the end of the year, we'll have quite a collection of interesting holiday zines! Feel free to jump in any time, though. Each month is separate.

There's a rating level of 4.99 and newbies only need to have 5 type 2 or 3 swaps, completed and rated 5, to participate. Recent 1's or 3's or negative comments (more than one) and we'll talk. I don't want to not include someone because of bad luck or one mistake or something.

I'll be happy to angel once three weeks have gone by, after you and I have tried to work with the non-sender and failed. Hopefully that won't happen!

So join the rest of us in celebrating National Pig Day, Hug a GI Day, Everything You Do Is Right Day, and more!

I'm not signing up for the swap because I've never made a zine before.

But I would like to give it a try. Do you have any good links to recommend?

Institches, go to Pinterest and do a search for Zines or Mini-Zines, and you will get all sorts of links for how to create a zine. They are not difficult at all and once you start, they almost put themselves together! One sheet of paper, folded and cut to make a mini-booklet. The possibilities are endless!!! Have fun!

@institches - I found THIS site to help me learn how to make zines, if you don't want to deal with Pinterest (I personally avoid Pintertist , it's overwhelming to me)
Hope this helps. :)

Thanks ladies for paying better attention than I've been!

Thank you for the links/suggestions. I'll look through them and give it a try.

Once the photocopies are made, is it ok add washi or other flat embellishments to each copied zine? Or, is the purpose supposed to be one "flat" piece?
