Description:

Welcome to my small art series!

This month's theme: CONNECT

Here we will be creating pieces of art on a theme once a month with the option of abandonment (we'll get to that in a bit). Sender's choice.

This is a hand-drawn or hand-painted swap, which means no collages, digital art, mixed media, stickers etc. You can use pencil, pen, ink, charcoal, pastels, watercolour, acrylic, gouache, or other appropriate method to create your art. Don't forget to use a fixative if needed!

You don't have to be the best at painting or drawing to join this swap - hopefully this series will be useful to practice new or perfect old techniques, as well as having a go at themes you wouldn't necessarily choose yourself.

You will create one 5 x 7 inch piece of work on paper or card appropriate to your medium on the above theme. On the back of the work (or on a separate card) please include the following information (for the abandonment part of the swap):

  • Free Art!
  • Title of the work
  • Your real name or professional handle
  • The date
  • Email address, website, or social media links to your other work.

Because this is sender's choice, you might receive a piece of work that isn't to your taste. Don't rate your partner down - instead, give them a 5 and leave the art for someone else!

If you don't want to keep the artwork sent to you, put it and the abandonment details in a clear gripseal or ziplock bag, and leave it somewhere public for someone to find. Examples include in a cafe, on a bus, in a library, or on a park bench... the choice is yours! If there is a danger that the work might bend or crease, put in a piece of card or similar to support it. Just make sure the art is visible!

Your checklist:

  • Get appropriate card/paper stock for your work. At least 150gsm is recommended.
  • Paint/draw a piece of art based on this month's theme.
  • Write on the back (or on separate card) the details as described for abandonment.
  • Include a note for your recipient that tells them the swap name, and your username.
  • Don't rate your partner down if you don't like the work - that's what the abandonment is for!

Requirements

No recent unexplained 1s or 3s. This swap is open to newbies with at least 10 type 3 swaps under their belt and a filled out profile that specifically mentions an interest in drawing or painting. Images of your work is also a plus on your profile. I will be checking profiles thoroughly before assigning partners.

If you are unsure about anything in this swap, contact me as soon as possible so we can clear it up and get you swapping!
