Description:

I've been hosting here on Swap-Bot now for awhile.Hosting while fun is a lot of hard work, you hostesses out there know what i mean.I think we deserve a little pat on the back.So this is what i propose

1-Swap Partner

1-Gift Bag filled with goodies..

The Gift Bag needs to be hand made and include some hand made goodies inside. What ever it is you do just do it.Anything can be included but check your partners profile for ideas.

Because this is for us Co-ordinators Newbies and those who donot host need not sign up.You must have hosted at least 5 swaps and have them in your profile before i assign partners.I'm assuming if you host you have fantastic feedbacks.

I will be checking them though.

Excellent idea, I will have to see if I am able to sign up. Keep up the great work!!

Fairykiss: If you haven't hosted 5 swaps don't worry i trust you.If it's because of the time line let me know and i will change it.

Hi, Joyce, thanks for telling me about this swap, I like the idea and I especially like the emphasis on handmade things.

I don't have info in my profile about hosting but I can add that if that's really where you prefer it, or, if there aren't too many people in this swap, I could just e-mail you the info. I also moderate an art swapping Yahoo group, btw.

SharonP: No problems i converse with you so i know you are honest and a delightful person as well..I try to make all my swaps about hand crafting now..

funkychickenoriginals: I would love to do this swap, but would you mind putting some parameters around the swap, e.g., an approximate dollar limit? I don't care how high you want to go, I just would feel awful if I received twice as much as I had sent! Thx. T.

I am not so crazy about setting dollar values on swaps, even though I understand and appreciate Tassy's point. I normally don't join swaps that require participants to buy something because to me that's not what swapping is about. However, I am happy to purchase a little something for a fellow swap host, and fully intend to do that. But I do appreciate the emphasis on handmade stuff.

So, if a dollar amount is strongly desired as a guideline, I would lobby for keeping it very modest, say around $10. Sorry if I am way cheaper than everyone else! But I would be reluctant to stay in the swap if it gets much pricier than that.

I am not asking that we spend a lot of money, only that we have a value in mind --- understanding that the value can be way more than what it actually costs us in materials to make. I would also be quite happy if everything in this swap had to be handmade. Am just not sure what is intended by funkychickenoriginals.

Hi Tassy,

I know what you mean.Ok lets say a medium size gift bag.About the length of a wine bottle. We should spend no more then $10.00 and should send no more then 5 to 7 items. So if i were to get you i would send the following(for example) because i know you and your terrific.

1-medium size bag 1-funky chicken pin cushion(hope you like chickens) 1-fabric charms 20 pieces 1-set of threads to match the fabric 1-Pattern (new ornament pattern i don't think you have)it's lots of fun. 1-box of tea packets 1-box of cookies or chocolates(so your hubby doesn't feel left out.

How about that for an example if you don't sew but your partner does.

SharonP- I know what you mean by $ amount swaps.I don't host those anymore.I come up with swap ideas with stuff i already have at home.I had alot of fun with my Whimsey Bottle (am doing it again for may as well)..But some of the ladies had to go out and buy a mason jar.I think Tassy means she doesn't want to send out say 4 items and get 10 items in the mail. She would feel like she didn't send enough.

So both of your points are well taken. The best part i have tons of time to get my baggie ready. Now I'm off to finish sewing up my other bag and get it ready to go.

Lets have lots of fun ladies...

Hi, everyone! I think your idea of honoring the hostesses is such a good one! I'm hostessing my first swap right now Pink and Brown Goodies and finding out how much work it is! I'm very excited though, and nervous about it going well for all involved! I hope to do many more, so I appreciate a swap like this for the future!

TerryF 03/16/2007 #

Thanks funkychickenoriginals, this is perfect! T.

SharonP 03/22/2007 #

Those are excellent guidelines.

great swap idea.

aya 03/27/2007 #

I hosted only 2 swaps but I'm pretty active. Can I participate?

SharonP 04/27/2007 #

I received a beautiful gift box yesterday from Jessie-messie-bo-bessie. She creatively interpreted the "bag" idea and instead decorated a tea tin about the size of a cigar box, which will be very useful, and filled it with lovely things all tailored to my preferences.

And serving to remind me that I need to get moving on getting my swap package together!

TerryF 05/ 5/2007 #

FCO, your bag is all ready to be mailed either tomorrow or Monday. T.

TerryF 05/ 8/2007 #

FCO, it was mailed Monday, May 7.

received mine - thanks (bag wasn't handmade but I love the colour) -- tons of angel stuff

TerryF 05/10/2007 #

SharonP sent me a very pretty little tote bag with many handmade items in it, including a blue knitted frog stuffie that I just love and a tiny book of her own poems, among many other things! A wonderful package! Thanks SharonP! T.(pics posted)
