Description:

You will create an art journal with the challenges described below.

The Challenges

  • Challenge 1:

Introduce yourself. Make a self-portrait or photograph in any technique or style you like. You have to recognize that it’s a person and that it represents you. Make it nice, not some sort of stickman like a child has drawn it. Write some info about yourself: name, birth date, job, …, what’s your family or pet like?

  • Challenge 2:

Your fashion style: draw, use magazine clippings, paint,… What do you like to wear? Some favorite outfits? Maybe some outfits you would like to wear, but don’t dare to because it’s out of style or from another time period.

  • Challenge 3:

Your favorite book or movie: recreate a scene, use a quote, draw your favorite character, fan art, maybe add a short fan fiction story…

  • Challenge 4:

Your favorite/dream vacation: Is there a place you’ve been that you’ve got amazing memories of, or design your dream vacation, tell us/draw about.

  • Challenge 5:

Your dream home: recreate it, make a mood board for it, what do you like interior wise,… You could use small pieces of fabric too, but any style/technique is welcome.

  • Challenge 6:

Nature: Take something from nature that inspires you, animals, plants. You could go to your local park/beach/forest and find some inspiration.

  • Challenge 7:

Someone who inspires you: choose any famous person who inspires you/who you like and why? Or maybe less famous, like for example a family member like your mom. Try to avoid people attached with religion, as this can be a very sensitive topic. Some religions don’t like images and I don’t want anyone offended because of it. Of course when you both by chance share the same religion or you are very interested in religion, then it’s no problem. But have some mutual respect for your swap-partner and discuss this respectfully when you want to include something alike.

  • Challenge 8:

Doodle! Make fun doodles, create a nice artsy page. Paint, draw,…

  • Challenge 9:

Your favorite season. Spring, Winter, Fall or Summer you choose. An why do you like it?

  • Challenge 10:

Find or create a zentangle and color it in. It has to be attached to your art journal.

  • Challenge 11:

Find a poem you like and decorate it. Use your calligraphy/Handlettering skills to make it look appealing. If you’re good with software, then you could create the letters on your computer. But it has end up in your journal.

  • Challenge 12:

A special dream you had once. Describe it and go artsy.

  • Challenge 13:

A recipe you like. Try to keep in mind your partner’s dislikes. And decorate.

  • Challenge 14:

Your favorite school subject: What was or is your favorite subject in school/university? Maybe add a short lesson. Show us what you’ve learned. Decorate and be creative.

  • Challenge 15:

Create! Use your most preferred style and technique. You can choose the theme. Go creative. Just make sure not to offend your partner.

    Some notes:

What do you mean with art?:

You can use any technique you feel comfortable with: photography, scrapbooking, hand-lettering/calligraphy, painting, drawing,… Try to mix techniques and don’t use just one style, because that can be very boring. Go creative and express yourself freely. I don’t expect everyone to be a Picasso or a Van Gogh, but don’t make something like it seems a 4-year-old has made it. Try to make something that is visually beautiful and fun to look at or read in. If you glue items, make sure to use a good glue so everything stays attached to the journal. You can use some stickers but don’t sticker slap.

The art journal?:

This can be store-bought as well as handmade. Just make sure it’s sturdy and the pages don’t fall out. You can also choose to use a binder and use pages to place inside. Just make sure the paper is sturdy enough and it doesn’t rip when you turn a page. When you buy a blank journal/binder with a cover which is just in one color or something that is a bit boring, then decorate it beautifully. The size of the journal has to be at least A5 (148mm x 210 mm or 5,8 x 8,3 inches). Make sure the journal holds enough pages to complete all the challenges. It’s at least one page a challenge. A side note if your swap partner is vegan or has a problem with it, don’t use leather or fur. This is just a matter of being respectful and understanding towards each other.

Restrictions?:

I will make this sender’s choice, as a journal is a very personal thing. But I want you to consider some things. Try to avoid things on the dislike list. But I want some tolerance from both parties. For example something your swap partner fears has to be avoided. I don’t want anyone traumatized by this swap. But I do ask to not rate someone down because you dislike a color or a certain art style. But as for the rest of the dislikes, try to use some common sense and do not upset your swap partner. But there also has to be some tolerance from the receiver, as this art journal is something personal. I will set a restriction on nudity and violence.

Requirements?:

You must have a 4.98 rating. No recent or unexplained 1s or 3s. You must have done 25 type 3 package/craft swaps and have got a rating from them. And at least some of these swaps have to be more intense package/craft swaps, not just ATC’s. I will check profiles, if anything looks suspicious then I will remove you from the swap. Please no flakers! As this is a very intensive and time-consuming swap, make sure you can commit to it when you sign up and that you’ve enough time to complete it. I will provide enough time to finish this project.

If you’ve got any questions or if something is unclear, you can always pm me or leave a comment below. ^_^

Hey Nijntje, thanks for your interest in my swap.^_^ I'll probably host this one again in the feauture, just before summer. You are very welcome to join then. I can already see you are a very active newbie. I'm sure by then, you'll meet the requirements. Happy swapping. :)

Wil this swap be angeled?

FairyLady 12/30/2017 #

@Ellivlove I can only afford to do 1 angel. But when I'm going to check profiles on the 31st of December I will thorouhgly search for anything suspicious to make sure the swap is safe. Sorry for the late response, I didn't get an update via e-mail from swap-bot to let me know I've received a response on my swap. :o
