2018 Chinese Year of the Dog

Every year we attend the New Year's celebration in Los Angeles. There is kids' art for the zodiac animal, crafts, museum exhibits. The first arrow is shot into a sake barrel. It is a huge event.

There are 12 animal signs in the Asian zodiac. 2018 is the Year of the Dog, it is celebrated through the energy of the EARTH, and its characteristic word is ACTION! Chinese New Year in 2018 is on Friday, the 16th of February and ends on February 4, 2019. So the energy of the zodiac animal lasts for the entire year.

This is Sender's Choice for any art form celebrating the energy of the Dog in our lives. Several potential personality traits have been identified in dogs, for instance "Playfulness", "Curiosity/ Fearlessness," "Chase-proneness", "Sociability/Aggressiveness" and "Shyness–Boldness".

As a Sender's Choice swap, you can highlight a particular breed of Dog or some of the characteristics.

Suggestions include: ATC's, Books, Bookmarks, Painting, Fabric Arts from Doggy Dolls or Prayer Flags, Sheet of Stickers, Note Cards or Post Cards, any sort of Stationary etc. It could be a wall hanging, something significant for the Altar or as fun as a pair of socks, or a shared memory. You can make a 5x7 one-sided item to go into your partner's sacred book as a section separator for her to write more about either the Dogs in her life or animals in general.

Consider the value of what you send to be at least $5. What you send can be store-bought and like new (gently used) or handmade. It might be something so precious that your partner will display it for the Year of the Dog.

There is a long period for your creative juices to flow. It is your vision, your work. You are only limited by your imagination. Dream big, risk. Laugh.

Send on time. Include a note telling your partner about the choice of what you send, and the swap name & your ID. Rate when you get it. Because it is sender's choice, you may or may not like what you receive. Feel free to pass it along, yet if it comes on time and meets swap requirements, it gets a 5.
