Description:
We have 12.5 inch and 6.5 inch string quilt block swaps on a regular basis.....So I thought I would start a 8.5 inch string quilt block swap...I'm becoming addicted to these blocks!! This is a good way to use up that left over fabric! No strips over 2.5 inches in width Make 4 - string quilts blocks that measure 8.5 inches when completed..... Start with a 9 inch base (cotton fabric or muslin- DO NOT add batting) and add the strips in a diagonal line...cut the blocks down to 8.5 inches before sending to your partner If you haven't made these blocks before, there are several tutorials on line You are only making the blocks ... do not join blocks together! Do the strings have to be cut equal width all the way? It looks like the white one in the picture is wider at one end then the other. Just don't want to do the wrong thing.

@jj9jj It seems that most partners prefer the same size strip on both ends but if it's off a small bit, don't worry about it..... You can cut the strips any width but not over 2.5" ... I think a mixture of widths gives interest to the blocks.... Thanks for asking!
