Sorry i am late in posting this ladies. This is the second round.I hope you will decide to join us again.

This is for all you Fabric Artists out there. If you are new to making quilt blocks this will be a great start.

You will make 1 fabric quilt block 8 x8 for 1 swap partner. You can make the quilt block however you like. Here is the twist. If you crochet or knit you can still join.I read a very interesting article in a mag today. You would crochet or knit a quilt block and stitch the block to a muslim or fabric background. This makes for an interesting finished quilt block wouldn't you say.

If the swap generates enough interest we will do this every month until your quilt blocks will be big enough for a wall quilt to hang.

So come join in the fun.

Newbie and players with a 4.0 and no more then 1 no send welcome. If you have more then 1 no send please email me.International swap

This is a great idea I hope it does go for each month cheers Bev

funkykchicken 03/ 2/2007 #

Bev:As long as everyone keeps signing up we will do one each month.I'm just behind in posting it.Had lots of swaps for Feb.

niecedenise 03/ 2/2007 #

I love to piece. Do you want a particular pattern or is it your choice?

gramsbuttonbox 03/ 2/2007 #

this is great - I LOVE the pic on the swap, too - (crazy quilting is such a passion for me, lol) - and please read my profile, it's about "putting together a quilt" from many penpals - hahaha

I am new here, but have some ratings now, so I'm not sure if that means I'm "still" new or not??

anyway, I'd love to join... MaryB

gramsbuttonbox 03/ 2/2007 #

(((oops....I mean, "Please read my website" - - FROM my profile"))) - - too early here, I guess..laff

user3051 03/ 2/2007 #

i like the idea of making a quilt from squares made by others

will we be making the square based on our swap buddy's likes? for eaxmple...if i request my squares to be in blues and greens so i could end up with all these different blue & green squares?

or are we just to make any old square?

funkykchicken 03/ 2/2007 #

Grams button box i would love for you to join us.

You can make the block however you like. You should check your partners profile for colors they like. You can request what colors you want your blocks to be.Just add them here and in your profile. If you don't request colors then your partner will normally go from just your profile.

Sign up every month and soon you will have a quilt. The best part made from friends you have met on swap bot.

user3051 03/ 3/2007 #

thanks, funkychicky ;)

okay i am officially requesting blues & greens!

craftersbag 03/ 8/2007 #

I'm asking for pinks, purples oranges and any bright colors. I crochet do I sew the crocheted square onto the fabric background?

TerryF 03/ 9/2007 #

craftersbag, funkychickenoriginals is having some systems problems right now, but yes, you would stitch your crocheted square onto a fabric square that is 8"x8". It is up to you whether you would use a coloured or neutral backing fabric. I guess it would depend on the colour of your crocheted square and the colour preferences of your partner... Hope this helps. T.

Hi Ladies, I am new to this swap-bot. And already I am having a blast just reading all of the writings about the different swaps. I've now signed up for 3 this being my last. I am going to have so much fun with this stuff this weekend. I just started quilting but enjoy it very much. I also do all kinds of crafts. My youngest is an artist (9yrs old) and what I think I will do with this project is have her design something for the square. She'll be excited when I tell her lol.
Oh and I would love to join this and do this once a month too. I would love to have a wall hanging from friends from all over the world that sounds great!!!!! Heather hlynns@verizon.net

craftersbag 03/ 9/2007 #

Thanks Tassy for the info I'll see what colors my partner likes before I make it.

sleepingrover2010 03/ 9/2007 #

I am a little confused and want to clarify this one for myself. Is this the next Quilt swap following the recent one that was due in Feb.? I think it is, but want to make sure. Thanks, Barb

TerryF 03/10/2007 #

sleeping traveler, yes, this is Round 2, the second one by the same name that is hosted by funkychickenoriginals. We all did the first round (or quilt square...lol)about a month ago. T.

Craftlover10101 03/11/2007 #

Ok when do we get our partners? How does this work? :-)

blessingstoewe 03/11/2007 #

I just came across this today, is it to late to sign up?

funkykchicken 03/11/2007 #

Its not to late to sign up if you do so before the swap closes

blessingstoewe 03/11/2007 #

O. K. I would like to sign up but I'm not seeing any link that leads me to the sign up page.

funkykchicken 03/12/2007 #

Cindy:I'm sorry i assumed you could sign up as long as i hadn't assigned names yet.I will be hosting this again in May.So be sure to keep an eye out on the swap list.If you would like to be sent an email when i host another, then send me your email.I will send you an invite to my group. It's just for letting people know when i start a new swap.It doesn't generate messages daily.

craftersbag 03/13/2007 #

Great I can't wait that was quick. I can't make up my mind if I want to crochet something or actually attempt quilting like I have been wanting to do.

funkykchicken 03/14/2007 #

drewzel 03/15/2007 #

I sent mine today, I think I got a bit excited! Hope my partner likes it :P

drewzel 03/15/2007 #

Joyce have you made a Flickr page for us all to show off?

user3051 03/15/2007 #

yeehaw! I am all finished with mine and just need to back it....I used afghan stitch, knitted part and then crocheted the edges -- it was fun and i was VERY happy my swap buddy had filled in her profile so i could tailor the colours to her!

I imagine I will be shipping Sat or Mon at the latest.

funkykchicken 03/15/2007 #

Hello

I have sent everyone an invite to join my flickr group. Please accept and upload your quilt blocks if you want. Thanks for joining us and hope to see you back again next month as well.

1CrazyQuilter 03/17/2007 #

tigerr I sent your package today, I hope you like it.

craftersbag 03/18/2007 #

I got mine from Laura yesterday it's just my style.

suzylucie 03/18/2007 #

Paula, I got mine yesterday. How cool to get a green quilt block on St Patty's day! It's very beautiful. The crochet is so delicate and the backing fabric is really neat. It looks like batik, is it? Anyway I hope you put it on Flickr so everyone can see it! Thank you.

Craftlover10101 03/21/2007 #

Bev S. WOW You sent this on the 16th and I already got it. It's just beautiful. Vintage too? Looks like to me so.....And I love the signature. I think that should be on all of the squares especially if we keep it up. Well it's it my very first and I just LOVE IT Thanks Bunches

Windchimes 03/23/2007 #

Joyce - I am assuming the future quilt block swaps will stay at 8 inch square blocks? I am hoping (but never assuming grin) they will be so we can stitch them together and make our own SwapBot Quilt. :)

user5629 03/23/2007 #

Hi to you all:) My message is only for * Connie * Hope that she has got an opportunity to read my mssg as follows!

Unfortunately I have never heard back from my partner Connie in US for the 1st round of Block swap. I have got her name for the first round of Twist Block. Mailed my block to her by the end of last month february and not heard from her yet. No rating for me yet by her side as well. I am curious if she has not received my block or what else happened? I have already e-mailed her but nothing back to me, I did not understand though. I would appreciate if she can inform me as soon as possible pls, thanks. Happy Quilting,

Turkish delight in Istanbul, TURKEY.

Windchimes 03/25/2007 #

I just had a horrible thought. Is this 8" square FINISHED (so it is really 7-1/2 once it is stitched together) or 8" square plus seam allowance, meaning it would finish at 8-1/2 ".

does that make sense? I just thought of it out of the blue and rushed over to ask.

It is probably way too late to mention it - it was in my profile but I am a pastels person. Having said that I love all colors. :)

TerryF 03/25/2007 #

The last time we did this swap it was 8" square when finished.

Windchimes 03/26/2007 #

Tassy: So when the squares are sewn together, the finished size will actually be 7-1/2? figuring 1/4" seam allowances?

Is that correct? 8" for us when we finish and when they are received, but 7-1/2" when sewn together.

I hope this makes sense because if these measurements aren't the same for everyone it won't be that easy to sew them together.

TerryF 03/26/2007 #

Windchimes, here's what was said last time. I always make mine 8" (so 7 1/2" when sewn). If you are not sure, I think the best thing would be to ask your partner what they would prefer.

DianeM 01/ 7/2007 # When you say an 8" quilt block I'm assuming that you want us to add on a 1/4" seam allowance/border so the actual measurement is 8 1/2"? TIA. Smiles, DianeM :)

funkychickenoriginals 01/ 8/2007 # you may add that if you like.Since i dont know how people will choose to use the block i will leave that up to you guys. The quilt blocks i make are sometimes used to make a fabric book or even hung on the wall as is.I dont always use them for a quilt or wall hanging.Hope you will join us and please use your best judgment.

funkykchicken 03/26/2007 #

Hi Ladies,

Thanks Tassy for answering these questions for me.I wasn't working from home last week. Most of the time when you do a quilt block it's 12x12 thats standard.

I decided we would do 8x8 so it would be quicker to do.Now most generally when you put the blocks together you will be adding a 2 border between your quilt blocks. So when you add that no matter the size of the blocks it will fit and make a blanket or wall quilt.

I'm not good at writing tutorials.I may draw something an add it to the flickr site we are using for our photos. It would give you some ideas of what you can do.You should make it when finished 8x8 when bound or left loose.I will be doing something different with mine.I will try to draw some rough pictures and give you guys some ideas.

If you have more questions send me a message and i will give you my personal email address. It's really hard for me to describe what i see in my head.

Hi its Bev I just received a lovely block from Susan. Thank you so much. Bev

user5629 03/30/2007 #

Hi Connie.. Thanks a lot for your message, finally I have heard from you. Actually I was not expecting that my mail could take soooo long to arrive in your area. Well, thanks God, that you have received my Block safely and enjoyed it, that made me also pleased one:) Enjoy:) And thanks for your wonderful rating on me:) Let me focus on my new 2nd block for my partner, as I knpow she is waiting for it:) She is again from US, and her initial starts with ''W'' ;)

Have a great day,

Turkish Delight

funkykchicken 03/30/2007 #

funkykchicken 04/ 1/2007 #

Hi Heather

I will do send you the link/invite again on monday.Am on my way out the door.Have quilting classes to teach what fun..

Craftlover10101 04/ 1/2007 #

lol i need classes :-)

Craftlover10101 04/ 1/2007 #

I started my first swap come check it out http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/2874

Craftlover10101 04/ 1/2007 #

Wow now i'm trippin hard core lmao. I just found someone with my name on here. And so I added the S for the beginning of my last name. And I came in to let all the swaps I'm on know about it and low and behold it changed all of my post's by itself! WOW Swap bot really needs to fix that so no one has the same name.

Windchimes 04/ 2/2007 #

Joyce, I noticed a link in the new swaps a few days ago that was for the quilt block with a twist #3. But it did one of those error things. Are you setting up the third one pretty soon? And if so, do you have an idea of an estimated "sent" date? I am assuming you will do the 7th again because of our previous conversations but would it be May 7 or June 7? I am really looking forward to having this quilt eventually. :)

funkykchicken 04/ 2/2007 #

Yes the swap will be for the 7th as we discussed.I will need to redo the swap have just now had some time to do post it again. The send date will be May/7 and we will probably be making it private.I think we now have enough in our quilt group.

I'm looking forward to having a finished quilt as well.I think that this time we should all try to include our names some where on the block. If it's to difficult then you do not have to.It would be nice though if we could do that. You could simply sign it with a fabric pen...

Let me know if you have additional questions...Also do please always send me a message.I have so many swaps and i cant always check them each day.

Windchimes 04/ 3/2007 #

Super! I assume we will know how to get to it even though it is private? I am sure you have that all worked out.

For anyone ever who gets my stuff - I sign it with a symbol - I sign it as

@

because my initials are AT, which is quite simply, at. LOL
