Description:

This is the 13th in a 12-month series of creating 13 prayer flags for one partner that is based on the book, THE CIRCLE OF LIFE by Davis and Leonard. You can opt in for this one if you haven't done one earlier.

According to the book, the TRANSFORMER holds the center of the circle, flowing out to all the other archetypes. She is the Source, the Great Cosmic Womb, the Sacred Cauldron.

Whenever we cross the threshold of a major transition in life, we experience the TRANSFORMER and access her wisdom and guidance.

The book gives this archetype more weightiness in our lives than any other stage because the TRANSFORMER does create the shift, the flow, the ease of transition. Our hearts tell us when it is time to embody one archetype or another. Age does not determine our stages.Yet, we resist transformation like any other change.

It marks a time of great resistance, even fear of the unknown. Disintegration of who we are must happen if we are ever to rebuild and recreate ourselves. The antidote for fear is courage.

I have encountered the TRANSFORMER so many times in my life; starting with the suicide of my best friend to deciding to get divorced, and then move to California. The TRANSFORMER shares the number 13 with the 13th Tarot card (DEATH), and surely I have felt her through every death, through every loss, through every change. It is most important for each of us to look at our lives and search for the TRANSFORMER because She is personal.

Like the book says, "Sometimes its hard to accept what we see, and the temptation to erase and do it again is great." One can give that sentence many meanings. It is honestly like going on a vision quest to do this last prayer flag. Go as deep into yourself as you possibly can for the soul work.

If what you want to heal in yourself (and your swap partner) is something about a particular time in your life, you might want to think about speaking your truth in a way you have not had the courage to do in other times.

You could print words on the prayer flag that affirm your nature in this archetype that was not or is not acknowledged by you or others; or you can celebrate the hope and promise of magic just over the horizon. (Again your choice) Anything you want is going to be perfect for you as you create, and perfect for your partner to receive.

Even non-machine-sewers can participate. You can buy Fat Quarters at JoAnn’s, or Hobby Lobby for under $2. Any sort of thread and needle will help you sew the seam closed in back. You could even hot glue the seam closed knowing it will come apart in weather, as well as gluing on any other accessories. Use a permanent marker to write words or draw symbols. Do an online search for examples & let your imagination take over.

Prayer Flags are cut at 6” wide and 12” long. The top is folded over 3” in back to make a sleeve for a rope the recipient uses to hang the flags on. Make sure you either add the rope or leave room for one to add by your partner. They are meant to disintegrate in the weather as the intentional prayer is answered, so ends are not finished and simple is better. Why simple? Beads, fancy threads can be dangerous to birds and other wildlife if swallowed. Remember to be kind to nature.

One option and not required: Include a piece of ribbon your partner can use to tie her PF outside that would go into the sleeve area. Your prayer flags can be of any color, any eco-friendly fabric and symbolize the sender’s interpretation of the Archetype. Please include a note with the swap name, your ID and any information you might wish to share about your creative process and what your intention for the PF is.

RECAP: Sender’s choice to make one prayer flag 6” wide by 12” long to be folded down 3” in back to make a sleeve.
