Description:

A celebration of culture! You are encouraged to participate in an International Gift Exchange in which participants research their area's native culture/their own culture's past and send gifts themed by that culture to people across the globe.

The object can be made by you, but I encourage finding authentic examples within the price range to send. Unless you are skilled in making/reproducing items from the culture, I would send store bought things.

It is entirely your choice if you pick the culture of your area or the culture of your background, but I would always choose area before background, as I understand some cities and countries are very diversified. (i.e. my background is Native American, but the area is America, so I could send either a fetish bead or something from the 4th of July).

This can range from folk art to traditional items.

Please only sign up if you can commit to the price range and international shipping, and to the project itself. If you do not think you have the time and money to dedicate to this project, please do not enter. This project not only requires time and money, but also research.

What to send: an item of minimum $15 and maximum $25, plus a letter from you explaining the story/research behind the item and why you chose it. If you wish to go beyond that dollar limit, you can, but do not go beyond the minimum, to keep it fair. Please nothing like alcohol or perishable/edible items. Please make sure you pack your item to protect it.

Your swap partner will not be in the same country as you, and they may not necessarily be the person you sent something to.

THANKS! dedredhed

I have received a beautiful package from Pam (in luv with stars)! But.. Carolyn W, a bit bad news for you: Even though I have marked my package sent, I noticed it's still on my desk.. :D So it's going to be late, late, late! I should pay more attention to these things - I'll send it asap and I hope it'll reach you safe and sound.
